Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If you starve while at DePaul, it is 100 percent your own fault because Chicago offers some of the best food in the world. There are an endless number of places to eat on the four main blocks surrounding campus—especially on Lincoln and Halsted—but this is certainly no reason to stop the food hunt there. The neighborhoods that make up the city of Chicago are primarily broken into ethnic groups, which means the food in each area is usually authentic, amazing, and cheap. It will be hard not to get in the habit of eating out every day, especially if you’re from a smaller city or town and have never had such a large spread of ethnic cuisine available. Chicago’s food is so good, there are even city and neighborhood festivals to celebrate the dining options available there—the most popular and well-known is the Taste of Chicago.

The off-campus dining is definitely something to take advantage of, and discovering another part of Chicago and an amazing restaurant can make for a good adventure with your friends. Many students eliminate their meal plan after freshman year because they find that buying groceries or ordering in is often a lot cheaper and more convenient. Keep an open mind and enjoy the food of Chicago.

Carry Your Student ID!!

DePaul is located in downtown Chicago so most things are inflated and is higher than other places located in the city. HOWEVER, DePaul students have access to many discounts with you student ID.

Great Dining Options Near the Lincoln Park Campus

Lincoln Park is home to many great restaurants, cafes and coffee houses. They range from extremely prices to pretty affordable, especially as this is primarily a neighborhood of young urban professionals.

Dining Off Campus

I really could not grade this because I usually eat on campus. However, I sometimes stop at the local PottBelly's and their soup and sandwiches are very delicious for a reasonable price.
