I think the local residents are kind and friendly. The school location is remote so not many shopping place nearby. There is a nature park beside school.

The first few weeks of school were hot and very humid, but now the weather is amazing! We have a few rainy days, but when it isn't raining, it's just gorgeous!

1/3 of DePauw's student population is non Caucasian. I have many friends of all racial backgrounds. My closest group of friends is not very diverse racially, but is very diverse in terms of religious and political views. Everyone loves everyone here, it's great!

The computers are all programed with this note taking program called DyKnow that was developed by a DePauw grad. It is very easy and helpful.

There are some international students, but other than that there is not a whole lot of diversity. It is becoming more diverse though.

About 90% of the time, the campus at DePauw is very clean and well maintained. As for the other 10%, the campus can be totally trashed because of that Saturday party that everyone looks forward to during the entire week.

The freshman dorms have been renovated and most upperclassmen usually live in the beautiful greek houses, but those who decide not to go greek are allowed to choose between residential halls or school owned houses/apartments.

Health & Safety:
Public Safety regulates the campus at DePauw University and do a fairly decent job keeping the campus safe from unwanted crime. Public Safety are in fact real police officers rather than just security guards.

The Greek Life at DePauw University dominates the entire school. The Greek parties, the community service from each fraternity/sorority, and the competition between houses are what creates the enjoyable atmosphere at DePauw.

Greencastle is a small little town. DePauw actually moved their bookstore to downtown Greencastle so that the students would interact with the town more and it is actually really nice. There are actually nice deli's and eateries downtown as well.

DePauw is changing up the looks in a lot of different areas. The athletics facilities are getting remodeled as well as the fields getting turfed and getting a new track. The dining hall is expanding as well. Hopefully by the end it will all look amazing!

Guys & Girls:
You'll find all sorts of diversity at DePauw. You'll have the athletes, and the preps but also have the people who wear whatever they want and don't care what others think. Normally people just wear whatever is comfortable to them. Besides people like to dress up all the time on weekends.

The computer labs are easy to access and the speed isn't that bad at all. Computers are always available, but might need to plan wisely when working on assignments because they can easily get filled up.
College Sophomore 2013-07-09T05:48:00Z
The options are not bad, DePauw is actually going with more healthier choices in foods which is going to be a big step up for DePauw. Otherwise the food they have isn't bad and there are other good food choices outside of campus that can work if you get tired of the food on campus.

You don't really need a car on campus, however if you do have a car there is not a lot of places to park if you are going to drive to your classes.
College Junior 2013-06-27T02:35:44Z
Places around campus are good. We are getting a new dining menu so thats exciting!
College Sophomore 2013-06-25T03:43:40Z
DePauw does not require a special process to be accepted into any program besides music, which only requires an audition in addition to being accepted to the college. To declare your major, you write on a form what you are declaring, sign it, have your advisor sign it and turn it in. It's very easy and anti-climactic.

I really value the liberal arts curriculum because you learn a little bit about everything and become a more well-rounded student. DePauw's overall academic philosophy emphasizes teaching students how to be great critical thinkers and writers. Personally, I am a comm and film studies student and I absolutely love the programs. I have professors who amaze me with their knowledge and passion for what they teach. My favorite academic building is the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media (PCCM) which houses the campus newspaper, radio and TV station. All of these programs are open to ANYONE and so fun to be a part of!

This is difficult to grade because we will be starting a new food service this coming school year. But DePauw just starting a campus farm that will be providing fresh and local food, which everyone is excited about! The school is also going to start building a new dining hall soon to open in a few years.
College Sophomore 2013-05-29T18:06:39Z
DePauw has many dining options and the food is great.
College Sophomore 2013-05-29T18:03:30Z
Everyone is very friendly. The school provides many opportunities for students to get to know one another.
College Sophomore 2013-03-25T19:36:24Z
DePauw has a very big greek population so the alcohol seen is prevalent on the weekends but only at the houses you won't see parties in the dorms or on the streets you have to actually go out to the houses, which most people do because there is very little to do in green castle. However, drugs aren't wide spread or even prevalent it is basically alcohol only consumed on greek property. I do not drink and I have friends that dont either and I have just as much fun with them on the weekends! Besides, if DePauw catches you intoxicated all the students know there are majoy consequences!
College Sophomore 2013-03-25T19:33:33Z
The campus is very diverse in ethnic and racial backgrounds and average in sexual orientation. However, the majority of students come from a very privileged economic background making their political views pretty homogenous as well. But, everyone gets along on such a small campus there is hardly anyone you don't know!
College Sophomore 2013-03-18T19:22:27Z
The weather is always random. It's been warm one week and cold the next but the weather doesn't affect my campus experience. This is becasue classes aren't that far away.

Health & Safety:
I give safety an A- and health a C+, so I'll focus on health. The Health Center, while inconveniently located for anyone besides freshman, is adequate and offers a respectable range of services at no cost. The downside is their inflexible hours, and that there's little to no student confidence in Putnam County Hospital. They can handle the typical case of alcohol poisoning (probably because of getting too much practice) but they have a history of over-treating minor illnesses one day and then f***ing up when an actual serious illness comes their way.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
