College Prowler Take
DePauw has a $412 million endowment and has put much of that money towards improving campus facilities and aesthetics. Campus is constantly changing and growing with a multitude of new buildings or improvements and additions to existing buildings. The most recent change to be seen on DePauw’s campus was the completion of the Green Center for the Performing Arts and the removal of Bowman Pond, a longtime hangout at DePauw that is sorely missed by those who remember it. Completed for the fall 2008 semester, the GCPA, as it is known on campus, is home to the School of Music as well as the communication department. The center boasts practice rooms, performance venues, Café Figaro, and much more. The $14 million Peeler Art Center is another relatively new addition to the DePauw campus. The center features state-of-the-art studios for ceramics and photography as well as top digital photography and video facilities. There is 5,000 square feet of museum-quality gallery space, as well as 3,000 square feet of additional space. Julian Math and Science Center has also undergone renovations in recent years that added of 100,000 square feet to the building. Each faculty member in the Julian building has their own personal research lab which allows students private places to research when collaborating with a professor. With the exception of the Lilly Center, DePauw facilities are very well maintained. The campus is constantly growing and improving, keeping up with the high quality of students it attracts each year with the fast pace of technology. The Lilly Center could use updated equipment, a better air conditioning system, and more machines, but this neglect is definitely not the norm at DePauw. The majority of facilities are top-of-the-line inside and out, adding to both the function and beauty of campus.

The academic buildings are beautiful and are efficient to serve student needs. Most of the classrooms at DePauw have technological systems (computer, screen, VCR, DVD) which is helpful for better learning. There are plenty of nice places to study on campus as well. However, the athletic facility on campus is not the best, but the University will be remodeling that area soon. |

The buildings are gorgeous, and the facilities are state- of-the-art. However, the fitness center is a joke, and the need to fix this place for the students is sadly ignored. |
