College Prowler Take
No other feature of Indiana quite compares to the strangeness and unpredictability of the weather that hits the area. Students can go from Slip n’ Slides in Bowman Park on Saturday to drinking hot cocoa in jackets on the way to class on Monday.
Move-in day is inevitably the hottest day of the year, and with most sorority houses not being air conditioned, the bare minimum of apparel is the status quo. As the year progresses, an Magic Eight Ball is about as reliable as a meteorologist in predicting what the next day’s weather will be. Layers are one’s best bet until November when the weather gets cold and stays cold for a long time. Luckily when this weather hits, the walks are not long—just far enough to showcase that latest pair of Uggs or new furry fashion jacket. Seasonal clothing takes on a whole new meaning in Indiana. The well-prepared student, however, has a good umbrella, a fair collection of spring skirts or shorts, an always-trustworthy North Face fleece, and enough sweatshirt hoodies to balance chilly days. As long as you’re properly outfitted you can be out to enjoy the beautiful fall colors the area takes on, and anything else Hoosier weather could hurl your way.
