Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Drugs at Dickinson, like everywhere else, are available to those who are trying to find them. Marijuana, prescription painkillers, stimulants, and cocaine can be found. There are certain social groups with whom they are more prevalent than others, but for the most part, they are not a highly visible threat to students who choose not to use them. The average Dickinson student is not a habitual user of any drug.

The perception of the drug scene among Dickinson students varies widely. For those who are involved in drug use, it seems to be everywhere; those who don’t use tend not to see it happening very often. There are kids who go through their entire four years with no drug-related encounters, while there are also those who see them every day. Overall, like at most other schools, it depends on the social groups a student chooses to be part of.

Not Too Bad

I see some students smoking but not too many. It does not appear to be a major problem for this campus.

Barely Visible

The only times when drugs are visible is when someone is noticeably inebriated. Peer pressure is only limited to you choice of acquaintances. Drug use is enforced by the campus police in which there are citations leading to possible arrest.

Not to Bad

I know a couple of people on campus who smoke pot, but besides that the drug scene isn't to bad. Personally I don't know any people who do worse drugs but I'm sure there are a few. If you don't want to be around drugs you don't have to. Its not a huge culture on campus but its still there.
