Hopping into my Business major was made very simple. I was assigned an advisor and the sky was the limit from there!

First make sure your grades are good, that'll be the first thing people will look at if your trying to get an internship. Talk to your teachers regularly. Pay attention to the billboards around campus, don't just look at the picture, READ. We tend to have college fairs quite often, sometimes organized by the students. Become certified or volunteer with a company just so you can have some experience and you can standout from the rest.

As a Criminal Justice Major, I am happy with all of the decisions I have made because each choice or decision came with a lesson or learning experience. Would I do it all over again? No, I cannot wait to Graduate! My career goals are to work for Youth Corrections/Juvenile Rehabilitation, Sheriff's Department or Los Angeles Police Department. I don't have any concerns, but I know it will be a challenge to obtain a job.

If you are thinking about becoming a Criminal Justice major, it is better for you to declare that major before school starts. I know some students who didn't declare their major until Spring Semester of their freshman year and are now playing catch up with taking classes. I haven't encountered numerous amounts of difficulties or challenges but I will say you must READ READ READ. If you don't read, then you will see yourself falling behind in classes. I really admire my department because administrator's look out for us. We have been to such places like: Angola and the Women's Correctional Facility, just to get some hands on experience. The administrator's are here to help us succeed and excel within our major and also help us get in the graduate school of our choice.
