Diversity is lacking at Dordt. Racially, a majority of the students are white, and quite a few students have a Dutch heritage. There are also a fair number of students who come from Asian countries. In terms of sexuality, most students appear to be straight, but only because LGBT students are simply not open about their sexuality. Economically, most students come from middle-class families. Religiously, almost everyone is Christian. And politically, the students lean toward the right.

There is not much tolerance for differences of any kind. Religious and sexual tolerances run extremely low at Dordt College. To some extent, the Christian outlook tends to repress opposing viewpoints and lays out which attitudes and behaviors are socially acceptable. There is not much room for free thinking—at least not without facing opposition. Becoming a minority at Dordt is easy. All you have to do is take a stance that may be considered more liberal, and you could easily find someone to argue against you.
