Within the party scene, alcohol is common, and marijuana is used by some, but it's harder to find. Anything beyond that is kept very low-key. Drugs and drinking are not an evident part of campus life—you have to look for the parties. Dordt has a dry campus policy in which disciplinary action will be taken against you if you have alcohol in your dorm room or if you are underage and in possession or intoxicated. Getting caught for alcohol-related reasons twice is a good way to get expelled from the College. But that fact doesn't stop students from drinking or from keeping alcohol in their rooms.

Sometimes finding other students who drink can be a bit of a challenge. You don't want everyone knowing about your weekend habits. Dordt is a small college that thrives on gossip, so you have to be careful who you talk to about your weekend plans. Also, drinking and partying are looked down upon by quite a few students. With the party scene, you have to want to get involved in it and be ready to pay for the consequences, which could be social, College disciplinary, or even involving the law.
