Living off campus is hardly an option. You can only live in off-campus housing if you are married, 22 years old, or live at home with your parents if you are a student from the local area. Those are the only loopholes to the rule. Most students end up living on campus all four years. However, quite a few houses and apartments are available to rent within the immediate area of the College campus, and the cost of rent is significantly lower than Dordt’s housing costs. The only problem is that very few students qualify to live off campus. Dordt has no housing for married students, so most of the students who do end up living off campus are married couples.
You pay more for the conveniences that Dordt provides, like wireless Internet and cable TV. Living off campus is cheaper, but then you have to worry about getting everything set up and paying a monthly bill. So between the housing rules and the convenience factor, almost all of the students live on campus their entire time at College.
