Varsity athletics don't have the highest following, but nonetheless they are great teams and students go to a few games each year! The work out facilities are great for athletes and non-athletes.

The athletic program is very representative of the campus as a whole. A large portion of students on campus participate in a varsity sport. The athletic director feels it is important that all students feel like they are part of the team and tries to build a sense of community within the school.

Student involvement in sports is a decent percentage. Because Drake is a smaller school it is more common to know several athletes as well as to live with them.

If you like basketball and track, Drake is perfect. The student section is wild during basketball games and if you have visited Drake, your tour guide probably spent quite a bit of time talking about the Drake Relays and the events during that week. The facilities are very nice and the teams are pretty good, but certain sports, like football, are not that popular. This is definately a basketball and track school.

Good Teams and Variety – For such small school, Drake has a lot of different D1 teams and a lot of them are actually quite good. We don't have as much school spirit in the student section as bigger schools do; Drake does OK for its size, but it could do better.
