Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Drexel’s diversity plays a strong role in the college experience, making its students more worldly through their exposure to people of all backgrounds, including international students. This valuable exposure and interaction comes about in the classroom and in extracurricular activities, especially those related to community service, which are very popular at Drexel. The professors are diverse as well, which certainly helps this cause. Although Drexel students do get a lot of insight into other cultures in class and on campus, it is disappointing to see that many Drexel students, like most normal college students, usually limit their social groups to those of similar backgrounds. However, it is not that uncommon to see an interracial couple or a small group of friends that is ethnically diverse. Frat parties, on the other hand, are usually more racially/ethnically homogeneous.

While Drexel has a diverse student body with respect to race and ethnicity, it is not very socio-economically diverse. This lack of a certain other kind of diversity detracts from the enriching experience that the differences in ethnic backgrounds bring to this campus. We’d be more diverse if we had greater socioeconomic variation among our students. Additionally, you will find that most of Drexel’s students come from the greater Philadelphia area, including South Jersey. Our diversity would benefit from a wider geographic representation of students.

Rather Diverse Population of Students

We get all sorts of people from across the country and the world. We are very open to all races, cultures, religions, and sexual preferences. We are located in the "City of Brotherly Love" so acceptance of all people is big.

International or Bust

There are lots of people from Philadelphia that go to Drexel. With that being said, Philadelphia is very diverse. But Drexel also attracts students from CA and a lot of international students. There are always people speaking different languages and having cultural events on campus.
