College Prowler Take

Drug activity is not a pervasive problem on Drexel’s campus. There is a lot of drinking and marijuana use is common. It wouldn’t be uncommon to hear boasts from our students about the quality of marijuana they are able to obtain at any given moment. Most people would probably be surprised to hear that harder drugs are much rarer here than at other schools, but it’s true. Drug and alcohol use has never been much of an issue in the dorms, either. Some high schools are more infested with drugs than Drexel. Our drinking policies are very strict. There is a no-tolerance policy for alcohol on campus. We are a dry campus, as there are no cocktails at any University functions. Not all schools are like this. Penn, for instance, is known to have cocktails available at University functions that include undergraduates, especially “Hey Day,” a spring event that lasts several days, and includes much on campus debauchery. Drexel has a similar event, “Spring Jam,” but unfortunately this event is non-alcoholic.

One drug that is pervasive among our students is nicotine. It seems that almost everyone on campus smokes and the campus grounds are littered with cigarette butts. This does not come as much of a surprise, however, as most of downtown Philadelphia is, too. If you’re a smoker, you’ll feel right at home. If not, you’ll probably find yourself waving your hand in front of your face as you exit buildings.

Drugs are everywhere. You can find weed from pretty much anyone, and kids always smoke at parties. As for other drugs, they don't really make it onto campus. Kids are smarter than that. You can find 'shrooms, however. Drugs such as Adderall and pain killers do find their way around campus, but it's not bad at all. Kids still do their work and get good grades while having a fun time.

The drug scene is everywhere if you open your eyes. In some of the dorms I could safely say that a majority of people smoke weed. As far as the harder stuff, that tends to stay off campus, however it does occasionally filter into the dorms. Shrooms are also a common sight.

From what I have noticed, there are not too many drugs on campus. Every now and then, I see people smoking weed at parties, but that’s about all I see.

The drug scene at Drexel is almost nonexistent. I know that Drexel is very strict when it comes to drugs, so I have never been exposed to anyone doing drugs.
