Parking Permits
Drexel has a lot of commuter students. Due to the overwhelming demand, you must apply for a parking permit, and get put in the lottery drawing to obtain a spot.
College Prowler Take
You heard it first—parking here is the worst. University City is extraordinarily busy, with two large universities right next to each other in the middle of a large city, and an overflow of people fighting for very limited space. Keep in mind, the constant construction going on in urban areas is also a hassle. Its impact on available parking is unpredictable. It’s a wonder anyone can park. Avoid bringing a car if you want to forego major headaches: being late, getting expensive parking tickets (you will get one—Philadelphia meter maids are ubiquitous and ruthless), road rage, throwing hundreds of dollars per month away on parking, etc. There are parking lots available, but they are way too expensive, and space availability is inconsistent both with the lottery in the garages and the first come, first serve basis of the small public lots.
If you’re in Philadelphia, you have to take advantage of the vast and available public transportation system. Nothing beats its efficiency and economic relief. Walking is very common to urbanites too. It’s good exercise and discipline—it teaches you to be early. Do yourself a favor and walk or take public transportation like a good city dweller. Life will be much easier.

Parking is very limited. There are usually just barely enough spots for how many people bring their cars to Drexel. Sometimes, it is very tough to find a spot, and you have to park very far away. |

It’s horrible—you might have a parking permit one quarter and not the next. This happened to me, and it is impossible to find a spot on the road. |

Parking is terrible at Drexel. Since it is a city campus, you usually have to park at a meter unless you can get a Drexel parking spot, which is ridiculously expensive. It is almost not worth having a car at school. |

One word: ugh. If you don’t need your car, don’t bring it. There is more parking available in the summer, but fall through spring it is very hard to find a spot. |
