College Prowler Take
Yes, there have been some criminal incidents, even some serious ones. Drexel has taken steps to work at preventing serious crimes in the future. Students do generally feel safe with the strong presence of campus security. All throughout University City you will see Drexel security officers, Philadelphia police, University of Pennsylvania Police, and emergency posts. Although the students are generally well protected, it would be wise to brush up on some street smarts before living here. Philadelphia is a wonderful city, and it’s important to keep yourself safe so that you can enjoy it along with the rest of your college experience. The key is to be wise and make smart decisions. Stay out of areas that are unfamiliar, be aware of your surroundings, and avoid traveling alone at night. Keep these things in mind, and you shouldn’t have any problems.
As safety is always a primary concern, so is health. Drexel students agree that the Student Health Center has some wonderful doctors, but the nurses leave something to be desired, and the center keeps disgraceful hours. The services offered at the center are extensive, which is commendable. The Student Heath Center can be counted on to ensure patient privacy, and they will see you in a timely manner, even if you are a walk-in.

There is "Rape Garden." It looks mad sketch, but really it's not that bad during the day. Just have common sense, call Public Safety if you have to, and you'll be fine. Calling them is fastest, but you can press the button on a callbox and they'll come to you too.

Security is okay. I have never felt unsafe. There are always security guards around on campus, and there are the blue-light alarm posts. |

I believe that the campus is fairly safe, as long as you don’t venture too far west or north of campus. I have taken a few night classes, and I always see security riding around on their bikes paroling, so I guess it’s pretty safe. |

Security is very good around campus. It is pretty tight. I have heard of as many as three or four instances during my three years here. You need to live in the dorm to get in one, or else you have to be signed in by a resident. There are usually Drexel security guards out. It’s a little scary just because you’re in the city. |

Security and safety is good on campus. I always see security around, whether they’re walking, riding bikes, riding Segways, or driving. I feel safe at all times. Off campus, there are some bad neighborhoods to be careful of. Just don’t go to them and you’ll be fine. |

There are two world-class hospitals immediately surrounding campus—the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Presbyterian Hospital. If you have insurance (other than Drexel’s) you can see doctors at these hospitals. You can also go to their emergency rooms with or without insurance.
