Students give mixed feedback about the dorm situation. About half of the students either like living in or remain neutral toward the dorms. The other half dislike the facilities. St. Ann’s seems to be the preferred choice of incoming freshmen, as the rooms are larger than St. Martin’s. However, the coed situation is much more strict in St. Ann’s than in St. Martin’s. Assumption is a quiet dorm and liked by the students who live there. The on-campus living experience declines for those who choose to remain on campus after their first year. Upperclassmen want to abandon the smaller dorm rooms for more spacious apartments near the campus. Towers is the least-liked dormitory among all of the students, and nearly everyone living on campus spends at least a year or two there. If a student has the option, both Assumption and Vickroy present much better living spaces. On the plus, all dorms are non-smoking.

After a year in an apartment, I’d have to say that I never want to go back to living in the dorms. Rooms are pretty small, although I’d have to say the other colleges I visited before deciding on going to Duquesne didn’t have much better. |

I’ve seen worse, and I’ve seen better. Go with St. Ann’s as a freshman. Rules are easy to bypass in any of the dorms; just don’t get caught. |

The dorms aren’t bad. St. Ann’s is the nicest dorm for freshmen (try to avoid St. Martin’s—very loud, small rooms). Vickroy is made up of suites for upperclassmen—very nice! |

Towers is bad, Vickroy is good. But, overall, dorms are dorms no matter where you go. I’d say go with St. Ann’s as a freshman. |
