Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The popular opinion on the quality of Duquesne’s guys and girls can be summed up in three words: they’re high quality. When asked, most students will simply reply, “Duquesne is hot!” On the same note, many students from other colleges or universities who visit a friend here also express amazement at the overabundance of good-looking guys and girls. This is not an exaggeration and is probably the most doted upon quality of Duquesne.

In reality, there is a wide mix of students. Duquesne boasts an abundance of attractive students with a good sense of fashion. One also notices a variety of personalities on campus, as well, from the sexually promiscuous, to the timid and cautious. In addition, one can also observe the typical mix of athletes, the academic-minded, and of course the “average Joes” or “Janes.” However, unlike in most high school experiences, book smarts are greatly respected and admired at Duquesne. As covered in the next section, Duquesne is not sports centered. This is a seldom mentioned fact, and it’s a point which many overlook when talking about the quality of the students here on campus.

Nerds and North Face

I'm not sure if the person who wrote this review actually ever went to Duquesne, because no one in their right mind would EVER describe Duquesne as "hot." I have been going to school here for a year, and I have only seen two boys that I would consider slightly attractive. Boys are nerdy or jocks, and all girls look EXACTLY the same (northface, uggs, and a bun on their head). This school offers no diversity in appearance at all, and I don't find the student body to be attractive at all. Don't take anyone seriously who says "Duquesne is hot."

Population

I would have to say duquesne has very pretty girls. I transferred from a school in WV, and the girls here blow everyone away compared to my old school. There is a decent amount of good looking guys too. I guess you could say most people are "preppy" but there seems to be a variety of different people. The one thing I noticed is that people are not that friendly here. At my old school if someone was in my class if i ever saw that out of class we would always say hi. Here if i say hi to someone to sits by me in class they look at me like I'm a total reject. But don't get me wrong there is plenty of nice people here.

Boys Stink

I just may have bad luck but guys are not that great. A lot of them already have girlfriends or are total jerks.

What kinds of relationships have you had since coming to school?

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

Most Duquesne students are outgoing and actively seek out friends and good times. Freshmen take pains to seek out parties, and these pursuits tend to continue through each successive year of the student's education. If one wants privacy on campus, one can find it easily. However, the dorms can get noisy, even past quiet hours. There is little to no peer pressure involving drugs or alcohol.

Hookups or Relationships?

Considering the size of the student body, a wide variety of relationships exists on campus. The possibility of hookups or relationships really depends on the age and grade level of the student. Hookups dominate the freshman social scene and are common even past graduation, with more long-term relationships forming throughout the later years of college.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Most freshmen will make friends of both sexes either in the dorms or in class. Hanging out in front of the dorms late into the night during the nicer months has become a popular trend among the freshmen. One can easily meet new people in front of the dorms on any given night of the week. Parties on the South Side, Oakland, and even in the dorms are popular places to meet and greet new acquaintances. Most freshmen choose to take part in orientation, and many long-lasting friendships can develop during those first few days of a student's college experience

Dress Code

To predict what the fashion will be on campus for a large majority of students, simply visit your local Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, or Express. Stores like these are favorite shopping spots for Duquesne's students.
