Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Pittsburgh is, without a doubt, a city that likes to eat. If on-campus dining becomes a bore, a student has a plethora of off-campus dining choices, offering a variety of cuisine, from American to Middle Eastern. Duquesne’s students often take advantage of the campus’s convenient location to dine downtown, in the South Side, and in the surrounding suburbs.

Among Duquesne students there are many favorite off-campus dining spots, including the ever-expanding Waterfront in Homestead. Here you will find numerous eateries from national fast food chains to elegant sit-down restaurants to the home-style cooking of Eat ‘n Park. One should definitely visit one of the many Primanti Brothers locations throughout the area. Their sandwiches have made our city famous.

South Side Has Many Food Options

a lot of pizza and Chinese places offer free delivery to campus, or a ten minute walk takes you to south side for a ton of reasonable restaurants and bars.

Not Too Many Options...

Unless you want to take a bus/subway ride, there isn't much in regards to dining close by to campus. There's a few fast food & pizza places close by, but those get redundant. The Southside neighborhood (just across the Monongahela River from campus) has an endless amount of restaurants, coffee shops, and bars to choose from - many of which are extremely affordable and delicious! One of my personal favorites is Double Wide Grill in southside, which has sort of a tex-mex, southwestern grill flair to it!

For Good Food Go to Oaklan Dor Southside

There is not much within a five minute walk of campus except a few things downtown but the liveliest areas are the Southside with plenty of bars and restaurants which is not too far and Oakland where the University of Pittsburgh is located. Oakland is centered towards college kids with lots of good cheap food. If you are a fan of Asian cuisine then Oakland is definitely the spot for you.
