Our teachers amazing. We have some of the best teachers from all over the country. The workload is not huge depending on your major, but it can be really big. We have a great pharmacy school and business school. We have a lot of majors offered, which makes almost anyone able to find something they like here.

The teachers are varied, like at any other school. In nursing, the workload is a pretty decent amount. They love the law school here.

Most of the teachers that I have...
Most of the teachers that I have are pretty great. They’re always willing to meet outside of class with anyone who needs extra help. Class sizes are pretty small, but it also depends on your major. The major concentration and core classes usually run anywhere from 25–50 students. So, the student-teacher ratio is pretty good. |

Teachers are nice and informative, but not anal. If you don’t show up for class, they don’t care—but you really just cheat yourself. Some of them are very diverse. I had a professor from Egypt and another from Macedonia. |

Professors are great! The classes are all pretty small, so they will know you on a first name basis. Also, they will go out of their way to help you with class work, and even finding internships and jobs. Most are very well connected with companies in Pittsburgh. |

The best lab to go to is in the library or in Rockwell Hall—all the business majors highly recommend it. |

It’s somewhat diverse, but not extremely. There are some colleges close to Duquesne, such as Carnegie Mellon, which are known for their diversity, but Duquesne is rather tame in that respect. |

Over the past few years, Duquesne...
Over the past few years, Duquesne seems to have been making an effort to diversify their campus. I think this is critical in providing a well-rounded university atmosphere. That being said, the campus is mostly white with a strong upper-middle-class background—no surprise there; Duquesne’s expensive! This isn’t a huge issue, but students coming here on financial aid may sometimes feel intimidated. A-Walk often turns into a fashion runway of sorts. I just ignore students who are stuck on themselves and how much their parents make. |

As a guy, I love every second at this place. The girls outnumber us, and most of them are smoking. I’ve never seen a hotter campus! The hotties just seem to migrate here. I mean, wow! |

Public transportation is top-notch. Pittsburgh International is easy to get to, and it is very nice. The airport’s pretty new and huge. The shuttle service there is free. It’s an easy flight for me back to Vermont. |

I’d advise anyone attempting to pack a wardrobe for the school year not to rely on the seasons as a basis for what to pack. Just because the calendar says November does not necessarily mean we’ll have consistently cold weather, especially here in Pittsburgh. I’d suggest bringing both warm-weather and cold-weather clothing. One thing new students should deifnitely pack is an umbrella; it rains at least twice a week here, and climbing up the hills of campus in the rain can quickly ruin anyone’s day. |

Pittsburgh gives you everything to...
Pittsburgh gives you everything to the extreme. Freezing cold winters with lots of snow, and beautiful falls and springs with plenty or rain and sunshine. Summer can be hot and muggy. Many times, this can all occur within the same week. It’s really amazing, albeit a little annoying. |

I really love it at Duquesne, but...
I really love it at Duquesne, but I think it depends on your major. I started as an education major, and their School of Education is really good. Now, I’m a physics major, and their science school is okay but not very personal. The campus is nice but small because it’s in the middle of the city, although on campus, you’d never know it (take a virtual tour at www.duq.edu). Duquesne has a great reputation, especially for the price. I’d recommend it, as long as you can stand a little snow in the winter. |

I am glad that I chose Duquesne,...
I am glad that I chose Duquesne, and I am very satisfied with the education I am receiving. The money you pay for tuition is outrageously high, but it is well worth it. It’s a small campus, so you can leave your room about 5 or 10 minutes before your classes and have plenty of time to spare. I believe Duquesne is preparing me to take the boards and receive my pharmacy degree without a problem. I don’t know what you plan on majoring in, but if it is something to do with health care, Duquesne will prepare you with the proper background. |

I’ve had a great overall experience. I’ve met a lot of people, most being very nice. I’ve made many good friends here. The people who work here and run the campus are all friendly. Though, at times, I wish I were somewhere else—say, Hawaii! |

Duq is the only school in Pennsylvania that I would attend, and I’m glad I came. The people I have met are awesome, and the school is gorgeous and has an awesome reputation. It’s a little strict on some of the rules because it’s Catholic, but they are easy to get around. |

My first year here, I wanted to transfer because I really missed my boyfriend. But I am glad that I stayed, because I feel that it is a very good school, and I have made some really good friends. It is also a very pretty campus. It sits up on a hill, so it’s kind of not in the city, but it is. |

The Internet in the dorms was really slow at the beginning of my freshman year, but the school worked on it a lot. By the end of my freshman year, it was much much better. Wi-Fi can be a little slow, but that's because it's so widely used. Also, the computer service guys are really helpful---just don't try to download free music.

The food is decent if you're careful. Options is generally safe and tasty, but I know a few people who have gotten food poisoning from Off Ramp and Towers. I personally got really bad food poisoning from Late Night this spring. Just be careful, don't eat anything that's been sitting out long. Going to meals early is generally a good idea. Fresher food tastes better, and it's safer. Just a heads up.

Professors can be really great,...
Professors can be really great, but like any other college, there are those "bad apples" who have tenure and seem to not care. Overall, the professors are really nice and easy to contact. They make themselves available to everyone, whether it is a core curriculum class or a more advanced class. Most really do care.

The streets are basically wind tunnels, and walking down them on a cold January day is horrible. When the weather is nice, the entire campus comes to life. Everyone is outside instead of being stuck in their dorms. |

Basketball is the biggest sport here. Our Duquesne Dukes made it to the A-10 conference Championship game, but we lost to Temple. We also made it to the NIT for the first time in 15 years but lost to Virginia Tech in double overtime. Our team is young and on the rise. We're going to be a really good team in the next few years.

South Side is a really fun and fairly close area to hang out in. Most of Duq's parties are there, and there is also a movie theater, shopping, and restaurants. A lot of students party in Oakland though because it's an easy bus ride away and a lot of fun.
