Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

While students may complain about getting busted by security or written up by their RA, security is almost always friendly and truly seems to have students’ safety as their first priority. Unlike the Richmond police (RPD), students don’t see Campus Security as out to get them, but due to Earlham’s dry campus status (which many students claim to be an unrealistic and counter-productive policy), any substance possession or consumption is forbidden. If you do get written up for drinking or smoking pot, you will be required to pay a visit to the area director, and only after several repeat offenses will you have to face the Student Judicial Committee (SJC). Watch out, on the other hand, for underage drinking off campus. RPD isn’t messing around, and you very well may end up needing a friend to come bail you out of jail. If you’re lighting up a J on the Heart, yeah, you’re probably going to have to talk to someone. If you get caught with your backpack full of something illegal, you might face a semester suspension. You’ve got to expect an institution to act like an institution. Earlham’s administration doesn’t want to see people ODing or getting alcohol poisoning. You may not feel like you need their help, but they’re trying to keep you safe. Don’t worry, though: come Friday night, students are going to be more focused on having a little fun than worried about getting written up.

I'm Drunk Right Now and Not in Class, Just Kidding...

We have a dry campus, but it's hardly reinforced unless a party gets to be too large. The most that they do is make you pour your drink out, unless you become a liability to school property and students.

Strictness in terms of academics: professors expect you to be in class and do the work. Class size is small enough to enforce this.

They Say It's a Dry Campus..

Earlham is called a dry campus on their website and other reviews but there is ample drinking here. If security sees you with alcohol, even if you're over 21, they make you pour it out. If you break something whilst drunk, obviously you have to pay for it. Wow, big deal. That's about it though.

It's Bad for Idiots

It's not bad as long as you're not stupid about your partying. Just have some common sense and you'll be fine.
