Athletics at East Carolina University are huge. Campus is empty on football game days because everyone is at the game, whether it is cold and pouring rain, or we're having a heat wave. I've really enjoyed the gym and swimming pool. They have a gym entirely for non-athletes so that we don't have to leave for the varsity teams to use the facilities.

There are plenty of computer labs and except for Joyner Library, everywhere on campus has free printing. There are definitely busy times in a school day or towards finals, but I've never had difficulty getting a computer or printing. There is wifi everywhere on campus and I haven't had problems with connecting to the network.

The dorms are loud and not conducive to studying even in the honors dorm. There is plenty of underage drinking and not very much punishment for it. I don't know of anyone who has lost scholarship for drinking and other illegal activity even when it would be merited.

I received academic scholarship and the program through the Honors College has been very helpful to me. I have a network of support through the Honors College with professors who are eager to help me. I did have difficulty with the initial paper with admissions; they would tell me they had my paperwork and then they would lose it in the shuffle.

The program was rigorous to get into but it is to be expected when your entering a professional program. Challenges were passing the science classes that are required for this program but I see now how important it was to take them. This program, to me, is well worth it in the end. Clinical Laboratory Science is a good field to get into if you love science and you want to work in the health field, but not have the patient contact you would in any of the other medical fields. We work in the lab that processes blood samples, urine samples, and any types of samples really from the body. The workload isn't easy but its not supposed to be, especially if your dealing with a patient's life on the line.

The dorms I lived in were fairly new and clean but I also lived in a dorm that wasn't my ideal choice. Some dorms are loud and the RA's really don't do anything about it. The food on campus is awesome, I just wish we had a Taco Bell.

The town is a great supporter of the ECU Pirates and I love the way the town supports its school. The environment is great and a lot of places to eat stay open past normal hours because they know that students are out and about. There's stuff to do in the downtown area as well as the town itself.

The choices of food are somewhat limited but the quality of the food is good.

Health & Safety:
I am a commuter to school each day so I don't have any experience with safety issues at night. During the day, the campus is very safe and the campus security is readily available if needed.

The strictness is not too bad. Sometimes it seems ridiculous tho!

I live at home due to the high prices of campus living and off campus surrounding areas.

Since I am a vegetarian I had very low hopes for dinning options when I came here, but I have to say that I am impressed with the variety of food they have to offer here to both vegetarians and people who eat meat. Just about everyone who works in the dinning halls are respectful and nice to talk to.

There is an excessive amount of school pride at our school. Whenever you yell the word "gold," you can guarantee the word "purple" to be be shouted back. We have a student pirate club which costs 50 dollars to get you in all home games throughout the year, which is a very good option if you enjoy home sports and supporting your college. The athletic facilities are new and in good shape as well. I think our teams are decent, but what's best is the school pride, as I said before, we have a lot of it here.

I can always be guaranteed a parking spot in my lot, being D lot and the back of the football stadium.

The transiit system will take you to several places in town. It is free and just for students to use. Much safer than using public options.

Over all the academics are good. Some classes are harder than others.

Overall pretty good. The universitiy expects you to perform at good standards.

The university has gone out of their way to provide a safe place for students to learn and hae fun. Most professor will go out of their way to help you. The university cares about the welfare and success of the students.

My school's university is set apart from other universities because the staff are so willing to help you. It feels that the staff and students are family. No one knows a stranger at ECU. Everyone is always willing to help!

East Carolina's campus is wonderful. The buildings are modern and offer many services to students. The traditions and pride of ECU Pirates is awesome!

The off-campus dining options do provide many different options. The options include different types of food and different prices!

It is what you make it. I'm not into the drugs, so I was never pressured. However, it is rampant across the campus if you're looking to get into it. Drinking, on the otherhand, is basically a second major for the majority of the students. The ones who graduate from ECU are the ones who managed to find that balance between work and play.

It is a lot of work, but I really enjoyed what I was studying, so it was worthwhile. There were plenty of computers we had access to, and the online component of the classes I had made them so manageable. I LOVED my major and my professors.

When it rains, it floods. Seriously, Greenville must be a flood plain. I'm talking everything except the hill (top of campus) is flooded. Sometimes, it is so bad that there are entire parking lots (cars included) under water. We learn to live with it though, so it isn't terrible. Also, when it snows, it is usually more ice than anything, and it makes for some fun times taking the trays from the dining hall and sledding down the hills. Other than that, the weather is nice and it is usually pretty mild.

Well - the "downtown" area is always hoppin' and there are plenty of places to be - cheap drinks make it an even better deal, and the "drunk bus" cycles make the experience pretty safe as well, because they go back to both campus and many of the surrounding apartments. However, if you are from a bigger city, beware. The "downtown" area is literally a little area right off the side of the campus, and on the other side of it is the ghetto. If you stay with your group you'll have a great time. Just don't be that random person that wanders off because then you could get yourself in trouble. Overall though, it is great. Everyone bonds over being a Pirate, and there aren't any strangers.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
