We have a ton of off-campus student apartment complexes, so the fact that ECU caters a bus to nearly every single one is awesome. It really does save so much money on gas, plus parking on campus is not only expensive but also extremely limited. The buses are incredibly convenient and run M-F 7am-11pm and then a "drunk bus" runs 11pm-3am Thurs-Sat.

I really enjoy my advisor and the attention I get as a student of many in the College of Human Ecology, but there are some parts of my curriculum that I wish were a little less cookie-cutter. My concentration is Events Coordination, and since my major is Hospitality Management, all of my classes are specialized towards conventions, weddings, banquets, etc. However, with a degree in Events, I want to deal with things in nightlife and music production, not Hospitality. I wish there was more flexibility in the curriculum to broaden my horizons.

Everything from apartment parties to house parties. Greek life isn't as big here as at other schools but it's still got a good following. Our bars and clubs are practically attached to campus and are all 18+ so there's plenty to do any weekend.

Busses seem to always be running except for when you need to catch one. Different routes are easy to master and these busses take you almost anywhere you need to go. Definitely eliminates many of the reasons to bring a car freshman year. Seems to be no long-distance transportation to RDU or other travel hubs which is a problem for out of staters like myself. Wecars are reliable and almost always available for whenever you need em!

Definitely not an issue to have access to free printing and computer access BUT it is way more convenient to come with your own laptop. There are many options on campus as far as public computer access goes.

I made the mistake of coming to ECU and within the first week here I knew it was not for me. The majority of the people here are trashy, just do not care about their education, or seem downright stupid. The campus is okay but not the prettiest I've seen by far. The actual city of Greenville is so sketchy and is very ghetto. It is a big party school, but so is basically every other college in America. Other colleges have the advantage of being located in better areas and of having a more interesting student population. The majority of people here are also very southern/country, which is something I am not used to at all. The classes are also too easy. So do not come here if you want a unique college experience, ECU does not have that much to offer. I'm transferring as soon as possible. Don't even apply to this school, it is awful and all the stereotypes you've probably heard about it are true.

During my time a ECU, basketball sort of overpowered football. I enjoyed attending the games and showing my school spirit.

The dining halls here are better than some or most schools, and have plenty of options to eat. But they do get old pretty quickly, and they can take a toll on your stomach ("West End Intestine"). Fortuantely Mendenhall Student Center has a Chick-Fil-A Express, and the Pirate Grill, which serves pretty good burgers and decent fries, and another restaurant called Bleecher Street, which serves sandwiches and paninis and fruit. There's also an Einstein Bros Bagel, a Burger Studio and an Italian Eatery next to Dowdy Student store. And finally there's another Chick-Fil-A and a Chili's Too on the other end of campus in the Croatan. All of these options work with your meal plan. But depite all the choices it can seem like you're limited to Chick-Fil-A and burgers.

ECU really does live up to its reputation as a party school. There's always something going on, and the frats throw parties every weekend. But some of the parties are restrictive, so it's helpful to either know someone in it, or show up with a ratio that favors guys. Or you can just show up later once the brothers in charge of letting people in are too drunk to care. But as for clubs and bars? Those are really limited to the 21+ crowd.

The dorms are very small at East Carolina. The dorms on campus cost about twice the amount of off campus apartments. The best thing to do is to find a room mate who is willing to live off campus, that way both of you can split the price of the apartment.

Easy to fill out applications for Aid, but quite troublesome for an already enrolled student such as myself trying to get money to study abroad.

The students and professors here are just wonderful, the most down to Earth group of beings I've ever encountered. My major being Ceramics, creates a very positive and uplifting environment to work in.

There is such a diverse group of teachers here which makes for a great atmosphere to learn in. There are many experiences to be had within the university.

The climate in this area is very favorable. Summers are hot and winters can be cold or mild. Usually the weather is not extreme which means classes will not be affected by weather most of the time. Occassionally there will be some bad weather that will affect classes but not often. Most of the time you can see students enjoying the outdoors year round.

This school welcomes people from all different backgrounds although it is predominately white. It is common to see all different kinds of people interacting on campus. It is one of the stronger things about this school. There should be more diversity in student leadership. I think that the school could do something to encourage this more.

I had a personal computer, but when I had to use the computer lab I usually didn't have any problems. There seemed to be enough computers, and internet access and supplies were reliable.

Financial aid process can be a hassle. Start early in applying for aid and stay on top of things. You won't be as stressed right before the semester starts if you do it this way.

Transportation options are very favorable. Routes provide access to shopping areas, campus buildings, and most major off-campus residencies. Late-night routes are also available on campus and downtown areas on the weekends for those night crawlers.

There are 8 different stands to get food at the West End dining hall. There is also the waffle maker and toaster area. There is always salad and dessert. There is always pizza but don't eat it everyday or that freshman 15 will find you. There is always the healthy option and the splurge option. The Chick Fil A always has food ready for a late night snack or even all day. The F'Real smoothies are to die for.
College Sophomore 2012-09-17T00:17:25Z
The food and variety is amazing, and definitely student friendly! Although the restaurants are not always the healthiest choice, they are definitely there when you need them. Especially that fresh hot original glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut sign can brighten up a day.

You can find just about any type of housing you are looking for..apartment, townhouse, patio home with fence for pet. Pretty reasonable prices and most commute times are from 5-15 min.

I haven't seen any activity on the Allied Health campus. There is good security presence and that helps deter such activity.

ECU has a very diverse population, varying in age, race, religion, interests, and beyond. This fosters comradery and learning beyond the curriculum.
College Junior 2012-09-07T01:39:54Z
There are many different options, but eventually they get old after living on campus. You are also required to purchase a meal plan if you live on campus, which is expensive if you don't take full advantage of it. It just gets boring being bound to the same places.
College Senior 2012-08-30T03:15:38Z
Lots of Options – I have yet to go to the library and not be able to find a computer to use/print from. You have an allotment on your ECU ID card to print "for free" (you really pay for it with your tuition and fees), which is nice to have access to. You can print for free in the Rivers Building as well. The computers in the library are nice too! They're all Apple desktops. There are even computers set aside just for student use and others for public use.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
