Greenviile is your typical college town. While there are plenty of Restaurants, shopping is limited and a bigger mall needs to be built. Also, the parking on campus is ridiculous, especially for commuting graduate students. I've only been here a year and there have been more than several robberies close to campus. Otherwise it's a good school.

The food is AMAZING! First off, we have two different dining halls and a student rec center that has panda express, chilis, starbucks and more! A place I love to eat is Sup Dogs, which is right in downtown directly behind campus. It's a cool hotdog/burger place and they have their specialty Sup Dog Sauce which is good on absolutely anything!

Our school has many programs when it comes to the safety of drugs and alcohol on campus. It really just depends who you hangout with and who you're seen with.
College Freshman 2013-07-18T15:40:30Z
Downtown Greenville is right next to campus so everything is walking distance from your dorm!
College Freshman 2013-07-18T15:38:30Z
It's always so nice and warm there, the suns always out and campus is beautiful.

i honestly have know issue with the on campus dining options on campus, they keep the choice very broad but diverse in order to please everyone.
College Junior 2013-07-18T06:21:39Z
I dont see too much of an issue with the off-campus dining options but I do believe and feel we could definitely have a more variety of healthy food eating places, or at least places that allow you to manage and keep count of the calories you're taking in, such as chipotle.
College Junior 2013-07-18T06:18:09Z
Based on my experience and ECU it is quite exceptionally diverse.

Greek Life is for the pricks of campus. Most of the members act to a higher standard but have no true place in the group. I think greek life is a waste of time.

Parking is always hard to find. The parking people are asshole. They give tickets for the simplest things.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone is nice and open. Guys have the tendency to be assholes to girls. The girls are amazingly hot. I find the girls out here very attractive. J

ECU is known among is students and faculty as Everyone Carries Umbrellas. It will start raining at the drop of a hat, so you need to always be prepared. Other than that, it''s you're typical east coast weather: hot and humid in the summer with cold and occasional snow in the winter.

Drugs are not a huge problem at East Carolina, but you'll definitely find a drug scene if you're looking for one. No one cares if you do or don't do drugs. Be careful, because you will be caught and possibly kicked off campus. Watch out for ALE downtown. If you're drinking downtown, they will catch you and you will get a drinking ticket.

Greek Life is not a huge part of ECU. If you're in a fraternity or sorority, cool, but if you're not, that's okay too! There are not many houses, but the parties are good. Greek Life is another good way to meet people and make friends, but it is not the only way.

There are so many choices for where you want to live on campus! There are three neighborhoods that you can chose from, and most students are placed in dorms depending on the neighborhood chosen. One is right in the middle of campus, one has the downtown just a few steps away, and one is close to all of the athletic facilities. I lived on College Hill my freshman year, and it is said that the nicest dorms are there. The only complaint I have about living on College Hill is the fact that it is far from the academic buildings. It is at least a ten minute walk to class, so be prepared if you chose to live there! However, dorms at ECU are pretty nice and generally bigger than dorms at other universities. Living on campus a great way to make friends too!

East Carolina offers an online process for registering for classes and allows flexibility in course load by giving students option of part time or full time study. ECU also offers a complete online MSN program which I love because it works with my schedule.

I have found the computers were very crowded most of the time on campus except late at night. I ended up having to borrow my mom's laptop to complete assignments.

I do not have much experience with living on campus as I have only ever lived in two dorms. Umstead Hall is a pretty good dorm option as it is located close to the classes. It is however, further from the food courts unless you are not opposed to running across the busy street then hiking the 6 minute walk to the cafeteria. If I had been driving while living at this dorm, I think my experience would have been better. I later stayed at another dorm for a brief time during summer school and thoroughly enjoyed Jones Hall. The closeness to the cafeteria was great. It was also close to the stadium. Only downside is it was further from the classes and you have to run up about 25 stairs to get to the dorm (fastest route). There are other dorms too that are in the heart of the campus, but like I said I do not have as much experience with these.

East Carolina truly provides a diverse population of students and faculty. Students who attend this college come from different cities, states, even countries. Some of my college friends are originally from Africa and Thailand. There are organizations on campus to support diversity as well to include Black Student Nurse groups, Men in Nursing, African and Asian organizations, various on campus church groups, etc. And the best part is, these groups willingly share their information about their culture to the masses on campus and do not exclude others because of cultural differences.

All of the clubs downtown are right beside each other and most people go out every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. parties can be found by asking around, twitter, or following the crowd.
College Sophomore 2013-07-09T15:37:33Z
There are plenty of restaurants and fast food places to choose from and delivery services as well. most restaurants require car or bus transportation but its still there and reachable.

The Greenville area is very proud of its ECU Pirates and it can be seen in almost every store in town. their participation in the community and seasonal sports are phenomenal. They also hold an appreciate day for the Pirates. there are always activities going on on campus as well.

The campus dorms are overall pretty nice. The dormitory atmosphere is quite comfortable. The people are very nice and kind. It is very easy for people to develop friendships, with there being plenty of a social atmosphere (e.g., dormitory social events).
College Junior 2013-07-06T03:17:27Z
There are many opportunities for research on campus, the hands-on experience helps with future employment. The courses can be demanding, but effective.
College Junior 2013-07-06T02:46:05Z
Officers are plentiful around campus, which leads to a low visibility of drugs, but it all depends on who you hang out with. Peer pressure is very low from personal experience.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
