Additional Facts & Statistics

Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Budgeting is key for students who are supporting themselves.
  • Buy books after the first week of classes.
  • College is not high school. Students are supposed to take notes in class.
  • Downtown ceases to be exciting after the first semester here.
  • Going to class and learning the schedule before classes start are important.
  • It is okay to change courses of study, even several times, and gen-ed classes can help.
  • Learning to say no to distractions is important.
  • Living on campus is sometimes better than not.
  • New students should carry a campus map until they know where they are supposed to be.
  • On-campus housing is overpriced.
  • Parking is awful.
  • Plan to go to class the day before fall break and spring break because many professors have tests.
  • Students should not feel like they have to get a job.
