When students get tired of campus food, there are numerous restaurants with various dishes and price ranges near campus and scattered throughout town. Greenville has a lot of restaurant turnover, especially among chains. Driving through town at night and seeing full restaurant parking lots makes it look like no one in Greenville ever cooks. Here, however, new places are often fads, and it is the local, sometimes ethnic, places that have steady clientele and dependably good food. Even though students may want to go to chains they liked at home, they should remember that, at least in Greenville, local is better! Out-of-towners sometimes complain that the restaurants here close too early. Most restaurants do not usually stay open past 9 p.m. or 10 p.m., but restaurants with bars usually stay open later. The drive-thru window at Wendy's is open past midnight, Boli's is open until 4 a.m., BW3's is open until 3 a.m. on weekends, and places like IHOP, Krispy Kreme, and Denny's are open 24 hours. Some places in Greenville, like the hospital, have 24-hour staffing, but most of the town sleeps at some point, so the market for 24-hour food is not large.
