Students at Eastern experience a lot of different weather on campus because Kentucky is one of those states that usually gets four distinct seasons. In the summer, campus can be really hot and humid, so students will typically wear shorts and t-shirts. Around the end of September, the weather gets a little cooler and fall sets in; jeans and long sleeve shirts become appropriate. Campus is really beautiful in the fall with all of the leaves changing on the trees, and many students enjoy sitting outside in the Ravine to do homework.
Bundle up when winter sets in because it gets cold, and sometimes it can snow a lot on campus. The temperature is usually around freezing, and the last few years there have been multiple ice storms, leaving classes cancelled and sometimes knocking out power for parts of the city. After the cold months, campus gets frequent rains in spring, so make sure you pack an umbrella to class. The weather does look nice when it’s not raining, and temperatures are usually in the mid 60s. While weather does vary drastically on campus, there are numerous activities students enjoy year-round, from baseball to Frisbee, sledding to hiking, and everything in between. EKU gets its fair share of diverse weather.
