Because it is a Christian school, there are specific rules set in place.

Parking is not an issue. Because the campus is small, it is easy to find parking close by.

This school focuses on diversity as a welcomed and appreciated aspect.

The weather is not always predictable in the fall and the spring.

The campus is safe, but it is fairly easy to find drugs and/or alcohol if you want.

I found some life-long friends here and have enjoyed every year of school.

Everything you need on campus is here. The campus is small and there is a focus on community

Carpooling is the best way to get to and from home from this school.

It is a beautiful area of the Shenandoah Valley and is very safe.

The nightlife at my school is very boring. All people do is watch movies and knit. There are no parties and if you want to go to a party you have to drive and therefore causes people not to have as much fun at them.

There isn't a lot of diversity on campus and most people who are in those groups are not discriminated against others. The religion is really smothering and most are Mennonites.

This campus is very strict. You can't have alcohol. You can't have a guy in your room if its after closed hours. There is nothing to do on the weekends and the activities that are planned are normally not fun.

Here at Eastern Mennonite University you are supposed to live on campus for three years. Some students can get by with commuting but others can't. This makes it expensive and really annoying. So you are living on campus pretty much until you are twenty one and then you can live off campus. It drives people crazy and we want to be able to live off campus without being required to be a certain age or grade.

The Social Work program at my school is very good. We do a lot of practice scenarios and hands on activities. The professors are very knowledgeable and willing to help anytime they can. The workload is very manageable and there are opportunities out in the community to give back and volunteer.

There is a small variety of majors offered. We have Nursing, Social Work, Peace Building and Development and several others. The core curriculum is tedious because some of the classes have nothing to do with some of the majors which is very frustrating. The registration process is simple and easy to follow. Most professors offer study sessions and tutoring for those who need it.

The financial aid was very good but I still wish I could have gotten more financial aid because a lot of other students are paying much less than me and it's expensive. I am paying for my college not my parents. it would be really nice if they could bring the cost of tuition down and offer more financial aid.

The facilities on campus are really nice and up to date and code. We are a very green campus. Our lights turn off automatically after no movement for ten minutes. Out toilets save water costs and our showers are eco friendly as well.

For the most part, food on campus isn't bad. I have an unlimited meal plan and I can eat as many times as I want to. The only thing that I don't like is that we have a lot of vegan food and not enough real American food. We only have two places that we can choose from. We don't have places that are open late at night so we just keep snacks in our rooms.

Eastern Mennonite University is a great school and has a lot of good programs. I like the small classes and the fact that you get more one on one with the professors. The thing that I don't like about it is the Mennonite religion is thrown at you and for a non Mennonite it is hard to adjust and you get smothered. Plus, since it is private it is really expensive and I will be paying back loans for years.

Eastern Mennonite University is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. It is right down from JMU and the mall is only fifteen minutes away. The mall has several good store and it is very accessible. every weekend in downtown Harrisonburg they have late night events which are a blast to go to. Students are able to get where they are going in a timely manner.

Most students here drive or live on campus. The parking is very slim and most students go home on the weekends. Our campus is so small that we can walk to every class. The only time I use my car is if I decide to go out to eat or just to take a break from being on campus. The city bus comes every hour on the hour but I never use it. It's only sixty dollars to park on campus for the whole year which is nice and the gas prices are lower here because of college students and we don't have a lot of money.
College Sophomore 2013-11-06T18:47:43Z
The computers on campus are all Mac's. Which are really fun and nice to work with. When you do work on your computer and then try to continue it on one of the mac's it is harder to open things up because of the different programs. There normally isn't anyone there that can help you to figure out how to save it to where it will open on both your personal computer and the computer labs.
