I have never lived on campus, and I do not expect to live on campus in the future. The only experience I have of on-campus housing and social atmosphere is completely second-hand. I slept over at a friend's apartment once or twice on campus, but my limited experience makes it impossible for me to rate on-campus living.

I feel our overall college Greek life is fairly unimportant and unnecessary. However, my opinion is totally based on my personal observation and experience, which is extremely limited. I have not been in contact with Greek life or members of the Greek society, and I hardly ever seen evidence of Greek students being active on campus.

One of the most important differences that sets Eastern apart is the cost of tuition, which is quite lower than many of the other universities in Washington state. Also, there is a strong support system for students in organizations, groups, and facilities around campus. The library, for example, is a great place to study and find resources as well as borrow technological aids and find help at the tutoring center. In addition, the Inferno, our football field, is bright red and draws crowds of students and faculty to home games frequently. And finally, one of the most prevalent characteristics of Eastern is composed of a great mass of grey fur - squirrels! They are everywhere, and are unafraid of humans, often darting in front of students and throwing acorns down from their tree branches.

Student life on campus is great! Our recreation center, featuring a rock wall, ice rink, indoor track, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as numerous aerobic exercise machines and tools, is a great place to exercise and build relationships with classmates and friends. There are also a variety of campus events and activities where students can interact and get to know each other. There are numerous locations where students can hang out and eat or study together.

I enjoy going to school at Eastern Washington University because of the relatively low cost of tuition and the expertise in field of study that I chose. I like supporting the football team, and I love visiting the campus recreation center. The resources and support centers are helpful, and there are plenty of opportunities to apply for on-campus jobs. Overall, I enjoy school here, and I feel that our sense of community is very strong.

I consider our college to be fairly diverse and tolerant. Although I rarely see or meet people with dissimilar interests, there are a great many posters and fliers advertising groups and organizations for all types of people.

Overall, the strictness of our school policies are rather average. Some rules have a higher priority, and others have very little priority. In general, I feel that the students and faculty have a good sense of what is appropriate and considerate, and most people on campus are aware of and value the well-being of others and the environment.

I feel that the decision to live off-campus has greatly benefited me, but it may not be a good choice for someone else. It depends on the commitments and needs each student has. Many students have a hard time finding a good place with reasonable rent, proximity to school (or transportation to and from school), as well as a safe neighborhood. However, my husband and I have a great apartment off-campus where rent is extremely practical and affordable, and the space is enough for what we need, and it is only ten minutes away from campus by car-ride. Our landlord is very generous and considerate, and he was careful not to advertise the apartment we have because he wanted tenants that he knew or trusted. One of our friends gave us a reference, and he was very willing to let us rent this one-bedroom apartment for only $400 per month, plus electricity.

My husband and I drive our own car to campus, and got a quarterly parking pass for the parking lot closest to our relative class buildings. Although I am glad we got a parking pass, I feel that it is a little expensive for students. I have not seen evidence of parking tickets or fines in parking lots, but I have seen vehicles being towed away at the parking meters. Overall, the convenience of the parking spaces are average, and there are always a few extra spaces. In addition, there is the bus system that has proved very useful and free!

Applying for financial aid is relatively easy, it just takes time. Sometimes it can cause stress when the deadlines are stacked on top of the tests and projects you need to finish for classes, but overall it is not hard. The most important skill for taking care of the financial aid is managing time well.

I enjoy Eastern Washington weather! The sunshine and blue sky in the spring and summer are simply delightful, and I love the snow in the winter! It helps provides beautiful variety and change in the sometimes monotonous college life. However, here in Cheney I feel that the wind chill makes walking to class painful. The way the town is situated in the valley, with hills and farmlands surrounding it, somehow creates a wind tunnel that blows right through campus. During the summer, when temperatures a high, the breeze is welcomed. Unfortunately, the wind adds significantly to the freezing cold winter days, and makes the long walk from the parking lot to the library and to classes unbearable.

I feel that drugs and alcohol are barely visible at my college. I have only seen a couple students acting suspiciously on campus, making me think they may be participating in a drug exchange. However, the overall drug environment at Eastern Washington University seems practically non-existent. I never seen real evidence of drugs on campus.

I do not participate in the nightlife and drinking parties in my college town. Not only am I underage, but I believe that drinking alcohol can be dangerous. In addition to my disinterest, I have not been exposed to sorority and fraternity parties or been aware of any on-campus partying. The only rumor I have heard about alcohol at my university involves the concept of "Thirsty Thursday" and the occasional outburst from stressed students about how much they would enjoy a drink. Thus, I consider myself thoroughly uninvolved with college nightlife.

I love being at my school. If I could go back I would have started there instead of transferring in.

I generally use public transportation as it is free for students. However, when i have had need of taking my car, the only free lot is too far away from where I finish in the late afternoon that I don't utilize it, I park in the neighborhood and sometimes am a few blocks away.

I just declared my major so I don't have very much to say. However, what I've seen of some of the teachers and the students it seems like a very good program and I am very excited to jump in.

Health & Safety:
I feel relatively safe around campus after its dark. I think it would be improved if there were more lights around and if the security had a greater presence during the late afternoon/early evening.

Different days have different food so your not stuck eating the same thing everyday. And the food is pretty good

Some sororities are full of snobby girls who look poorly on you if you aren't just like them. But there are still sororities that are great to be apart of and are welcoming to all.

I am underage so I don't know anything about the bars and clubs. I also don't party so I don't know how many parties there are or when they are
College Student 2013-11-19T02:36:56Z
Not too expensive when it comes to housing. They have lots of parking that is for people who live in the dorms. They keep it clean, and welcoming.

There are tons of apartments around the town. It was very easy to find a fairly inexpensive apartment very close to campus. It's a short walk to the school or Safeway. No need for a car! It's also very close to the bus stops

I have really enjoyed my school. My classes have all been great, great teachers, great classmates, and a great atmosphere. I am proud to go to my school. There is a lot of pride. I wouldn't choose another school to go to because I like mine.

The computer labs are great. The network isn't too slow, at times it can be. You can always find a computer to use. The wireless network can be slow in some buildings, or when you are walking around campus. You get lots of print credits so you don't have to use your own money
College Student 2013-11-19T02:29:29Z
Guys & Girls:
Many people are very social. I have seen lots of people in relationships around campus. People look like nice friendly people that you would want to talk to. I would say that there are too many interests to list them all, everyone is different
Sorry, there are no reviews.
