There are only two places on campus to get food, the caf and the Triton Pub. The food at both is pretty good but can get repetitive after a while. The caf has a wide variety of foods from day to day with many options if you are a vegetarian or vegan. The school also try's to implement fresh locally grown foods from the campus garden.

The most popular sports at Eckerd are Basketball, Soccer, and Rugby. The rugby games are the most gone to by the student population and can be a fun time. There are also many club and intramural sports such as softball, volleyball, sailing, basketball, ect. Anyone can join club or intramural and it is a great time.

dorms are great and get you involved in activities. I recommend living on campus

Like every campus there are druggies, but there is no pressure at Eckerd to do something you don't want to do.

The plus is that it is cheaper, but it is a pain and you have to worry about groceries and rent.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on Eckerd campus. It is a small, beautiful, safe place to be, reason it's called the "Eckerd Bubble". Keep your doors locked to avoid petty theft or late-night pranks. Be warned that Campus Security isn't too happy about drinking games or excessive noise complaints.

The process of getting into my Business major was relatively easy. I didn't have to do a special application process when applying to the school. Once I was there, I just enrolled in English classes and eventually declared my major during my freshman year. To declare, you had to respond to an email stating what major you were declaring. Only real difficulties I've seen is switching majors. While possible, it's still difficult because of the many different course requirements.

It's average. Cost is a little high. Kind of hard finding spots, especially on the weekend.

Never felt unsafe. Guard at the front gate at all times. Campus safety regularly patrolling campus.

Most people drink and several use drugs. Even though its really common, people don't have an issue if you don't drink or use drugs.

Health & Safety:
I rarely ever feel unsafe here. Campus safety are almost always around on their golf carts, even in the middle of the night. Sometimes there is an instance of theft or vandalism, but I've never been personal affected by either. Just make smart choice about locking up your room, car, or bike, and don't be obnoxious about drinking. Other than that, the scariest thing here is Stumpy, the resident alligator, who is barely ever seen.

There are parties on campus, similar to parties at other schools on a smaller scale. I have never felt scared to be on campus even at night.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone is super friendly and approachable. This is a very informal school, most kids show up to class without shoes. It is just the Florida way.

There are plenty of computers to use on campus and the internet on them are super fast. Printing is extremely easy and understandable.

The cafeteria becomes repetitive after awhile. Bon Appetite varies in three sections, but the rest is always the same food. The Pub has great food but if it's all you eat, it will become repetitive as well since the menu is always the same. There are numerous fast food places nearby, but for those who are looking for a more healthy option could find it better to find a way off the meal plan. The cafeteria and Pub have set eating times, so it is not ideal for getting food when late night cravings hit.

The students at Ecerkd are really easy going and very accepting of others - beliefs, ethnicity, etc.

Eckerd has some great programs (e.g., Marine Sciences), Being a small school, some majors are not available. However, small has it advantages, you have smaller classes, and get yo know your professors well. The workload is reasonable.

Being on the beach has it perks, especially when you have access to a boathouse. Eckerd has a fully equipped boathouse with all accessories free to students and family members - boats, kayaks, surfing, sailing, etc, . The grounds are nice too, with a lot of things to do.

Housing is about like most campus. The upper classmen housing is nice, but also good options for underclassmen.

St Pete is a great town and is also very close to Tampa. Great sports events, nightlife, arts, and outdoor activities. Being on the water is awesome.
College Junior 2013-03-18T15:21:29Z
Quality and variety about like most campuses, some of the selection gets old. I wish there were more healthy options.

We have a computer lab here at school that is open 24/7 where you can print things for free and use the computers there. They are pretty quick and work well. Eckerd supposedly has access to wireless on 90% of campus so you re pretty well covered. I wouldn’t bring a printer because ink is expensive and you can print from your personal computer to the lab here.

The academics at Eckerd are top-notch. I feel like I am getting an extremely thorough education here. Almost all of the classes are discussion based, including parts of my Calculus class. 95% of the professors at Eckerd have their PHD and are really relatable. All of my professors know my name, which is really saying something,

I do not take part in such activities, but I hear about a lot of kids using drugs. No one that I am friends with does drugs so I really try not to accociate with those that partake.

Health & Safety:
Well, I have had 2 bikes stolen, been locked out of my room so I have had to call and deal with Campus Security on a regular basis. They are not police but Security officers. We have a very good email and texting system in case of emergencies so we do get early notifications. We also have severe weather alerts since our campus is on the water and we get notifications regarding that as well.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
