The process of getting into my program was simple and easy. There were no special circumstances or requirements needed. Once you have attained a certain amount of classes and credits you need to submit your thesis and hold an art show of your thesis.

I was not able to do an internship as I had to work in college also. I was going to switch to a paid internship but was not able to find one that paid as well as the job I held while in school.

There are a wide variety of majors at Eckerd. The instructors in the Art program are excellent and very open and constructive. They are available for you as much as you need and offer a wonderful learning experience.

The program was great. I just wish at the time there were more options for the digital space. Not having the ability to get more involved in digital arts was kind of a hold back but with the ability to create your own classes there was a chance to catch up on the courses not offered. I was able to find a great job within a year of graduation. I definitely recommend that students do an internship while in school to increase their chances of getting a good job.

At the time when I went to Eckerd, I changed my major. I was leaning more toward graphic arts and the school technology was not quite up to par yet. I believe they are more caught up on technology now, however. The professors were great at trying to stay on top of the technologies and trends in the particular majors and academia.

Eckerd College was a wonderful experience. The teachers are great at working with students and helping them to realize their full potential. The course load is not intensive.

Health & Safety:
I have never had any health or safety problems on campus.

No much of a student center other than the Pub where you can play pool and eat or watch movies. The dorm lounges are more often the hang out spots for people.

EC-SAR a search and rescue, coast guard program at Eckerd College, that uses and trains students to participate in emergency coast guard issues. We are right on the water, often closer to emergencies than the coast guard is.

Nightlife is totally on campus unless you have a car to travel off campus. The parties rarely have alcohol provided at them, even for students over 21. I love the dancing and the club-like feeling

Having worked in the field of marine science for four years since graduation, I feel that Eckerd prepared me well for a career. Professors are very helpful and prepare appropriate curricula.

There is a Pub on campus where you can by beer (if your legal age, of course), but its not really a typical party scene although they try with concerts and events. Upperclassmen have parties in Nu & Omega on a regular basis.

Parking is very rare. Freshmen have to park in a remote lot far from any dorms. When I was there it was a gravel lot, so your car was always dusty. I admit I received many $15-$25 parking tickets there for not parking in the right spot, they will get you in minutes for parking in the incorrect place! One good thing is I was I able to get out of fines by going to the office and explaining why I was parked in an incorrect location. Eckerd is a great school, but parking is not of of its strong points.

Eckerd has no football team, which many prospective college students are interested in. They do however have a really great men's rugby team and volleyball teams which are really exciting to watch. They have intermural sports that are fun for everyone to get involved in. The climate is great for attending games :)

It's What You Make of It – Eckerd College has organizations like Palmetto Productions that often arrange for buses and the like to take students bowling, go to events in the downtown area, and often offer such things as free movie tickets or free baseball tickets for entertainment.
You will not be unable to find a party if you're truly on the lookout for one on an Eckerd weekend, but they certainly don't overwhelm anyone. It's very fun in the right crowd and conditions.

Very Humid a Lot of the Time, but Otherwise Gorgeous – Eckerd's weather is pretty much any sun-lover's paradise. It's even said that St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay Area held the longest recorded days in a row for sunshine.
You will get rain (and when it rains, its usually torrential, but in short bursts), you may get hurricane type winds, and there are days where it's so humid it's hard to breath.
But those are so far and few in between that it's usually ignored by everyone in favor of enjoying the sun and perfect weather the campus is blessed with.

It's Florida, Man – Rains pretty much everyday, never bad or for that long. It can get pretty toasty sometimes. And the bugs can range from mild to unbelievably horrifying.

Everything I Hoped It'd Be – Incredibly relaxed, filled with fun, well-to-do, interesting people, and i'm actually learning a lot and feel like my brain's doing real work.

Guys & Girls:
Definitely Pleasantly Surprised – I had friends who told me the girls here weren't that great, but they were very wrong. Girl majority, and tons of cute and attractive girls. Lots of really beautiful ones too, specifically the real naturally beautiful hippy girls. Love em.

One of the Most Refreshingly Diverse Places Ever – The very broad and diverse student body was a major attraction for me. The school is largely composed of white students, but from all across the country, and a handful of international students. Everyone is incredibly open and accepting, good-hearted.

Ok but Repetitive – The food is not the worst of qualtiy, but it gets very repetitive after eating there every day.
