Eckerd allows students to have safe fun on campus. Security has fun joking with students and they are known by everyone on campus as people who are there to watch us have fun and be our friends and not to just stop all fun. Everyone is always down to do anything and most parties can be heard around campus. Just follow the music and you will find the fun! Everyone gets along which is refreshing.

At first the good is pretty good, but it gets really old because it is always the same. The food is pretty bland too.

Pretty Good – Sports at Eckerd are pretty decent. Basketball is probably the most popular sport
College Junior 2012-06-02T03:03:16Z
So So – The area is pretty dead, and downtown St. Pete is only fun if you're 21. Tampa is where it's at.

The shuttle is really good at Eckerd college. They are free and take you on trips to the store or other fun places. All you have to do is tell someone in the office that you want to go somewhere and if enough people want to go you can go.

Drugs everywhere – There are sooo many kids that do drugs on our campus it's insane, particularly all the kappa kids. Its hard to avoid but I guess if you are away from those kids you can stay away from the drugs.I think the reason for all the drug use is because of the lax security, ive seen kids just drinking, smoking weed and dropping acid right in front of security guards and nothing happens..

Drug Free – There is a pub located on campus at the main food hall, but I do not drink or hang out at the pub.

I do not partake in any of the nightlife at the college.

Its Sunny OUT Here – it almost never rains, its also very windy because its next to the water
College Senior 2012-03-13T23:39:18Z
they take the parking way too seriously, Ive never had a car but I have got 3 tickets, the security rides around looking for people and if your freshman, your kinda f****ed you cant park any where, but far

Good academic financial aid available, was easy as it was part of the application process. I did not qualify for any 'needs based' so not familiar.

Campus & College Unique Perks – We are right on Boca Ciege Bay, with a boat house with unlimited and free access to sailboats, canoes, sea kayaks, sailboards, and multiple power boats used for water skiing, fishings. Although small, great feel and really friendly atmosphere. Academis are good (some majors more rigorous than others) with easy and great access to professors, even 'Pitchers & Profs' at the Pub. We also the Eckerd College Search and Rescue Team (EC-SAR) is one of the most unique co-curricular programs available to full-time, degree seeking Eckerd students and is only at Eckerd. They work closely with the US Coast Guard, 911 Emergency Medical Response, and other state and local agencies, the team provides maritime assistance to the boaters of Tampa Bay. Students are trained in technical rescue, boating safety, seamanship, searching, fire fighting, de-watering, navigation, medical response, and evening piloting rescue vessels. Downtown St Pete is great, the beaches are awesome and Tampa has great professional sports teams.

Great access all over campus, wifi is good (but could be better), IT staff helpful.
College Junior 2012-02-13T21:48:30Z
Lack of Wifi in Dorms – Most people bring their laptops to the library because there is very poor connection elsewhere. The college is supposed to be known for being "wired", but I have been to other schools with way better connection.

Very Prepared. I am an environmental major and though I haven't finished my degree yet I feel very confident in my program and my ability to find work in my field after graduation. The classes are fun and engaging and are jam packed with information that you don't even realize you are soaking up because the classes and professors in the environmental program are exceptional.

Awesome Dorm Living – Dorm life at Eckerd college is excellent. All the dorms besides the sigma dorm are centrally located-close to everything on campus. Rooms are generally larger then most other dorms at other schools I've visited. Close to 90% of all students live on campus which is great for social life. There are traditional dorms great for freshman that encourage social life and "friend making." There are also two apartment style dorms that are great for upperclassmen. Also, the view from a select few of the dorms are amazing, overlooking the beautiful Tampa Bay. The price is a average for dorm living, but when else are you going to be living on the water, basically almost beachfront property, oh yeah there's a beach located on campus. Laundry machines located in all the dorms complexes and the cost to do laundry is honestly way cheaper than at many other school, a full load-wash and dry is only $1.25. Traditional dorms all have centrally located communial bathrooms, clean and convienent. The apartment style dorms all have private bathrooms attached to the rooms. The sigma dorm also has bathrooms attached to each room because it is a converted hotel, but sigma is located, almost isolated at the front of campus. Overall dorm living is awesome.

The academics offered at Eckerd are exceptional. The colleges proximity to the ocean allows for some of the best hands on experience for anyone interested in any sort of marine related study. The professors are amazing, charming, nice and extremely knowledgable. I have friends who are marine science majors and havent once yet actually gone out into the field, the beach, estuaries ect. Within the first week of being in class, I was out in the bay collecting samples and learning about marine life hands on and not from a textbook or pictures like at many other schools. The marine science department is just a prime example of what else Eckerd has to offer with its many other programs. Grade A school!
College Junior 2012-01-26T03:12:06Z
It Is Very Unique – We have a marina on our campus that is used for classes, leisure, sports, and our famous EC Search and Rescue program.
College Junior 2012-01-26T03:08:48Z
It Gets Rowdy – Our campus has parties at every dorm every weekend night and often on some weekday nights. The campus is very safe and there is rarely ever and violence or theft. It is very loud and hard to sleep sometimes, because people are often up until five in the morning.
College Junior 2012-01-26T03:06:45Z
A Unique Variety of Sports – Although the school is not known for its great athletics, we do have a unique variety of sports. Some of the sports include rugby, sailing, ultimate frisbee, beach volleyball, and field hockey. Unfortunately, our sports as a whole do not perform well, there is little fan support or school spirit. Sports are more of a leisure activity at Eckerd.

Not Very Diverse – no black people, or asians hardly, just a bunch of hippie, pot-smoking, rich white kids. not very charitable to the poor :'( that's why i'm blowing this joint peace outttttt.
Oh, but there are foreign kids which is a plus, but like one on campus even knows about them.
