Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If you’re over 21, the local nightlife holds a lot more options. St. Petersburg is not really known for its nightlife, but Tampa is 25 minutes away, and St. Petersburg still has a couple of charms up its sleeve, even though it doesn’t have a big-city vibe. One of the most popular events in St. Pete is First Fridays—the streets in downtown are blocked off the first Friday of every month, and everybody heads out to party. Although everyone is welcome, First Friday is really designed for the 21+ set, apart from the outdoor concert.

For students under 21, Ybor, the historic Tampa district, is home to the most 18+ clubs in one vicinity and is a nice place to check out for dinner and an evening out. Special parties sometimes come through Tampa, such as foam or paint parties, and those are surprisingly popular. There are also a lot of great concerts that come to both St. Pete and Ybor, and the lesser-known acts are usually quite affordable. Palmetto Productions, the on-campus activity staff, throws a multitude of events as well that can be worth checking out. Palmetto is also responsible for getting tickets to special events at the parks in Orlando like Howl-O-Scream or select concerts, or they sometimes even bringer performers and bands to campus.

It Gets Rowdy

Our campus has parties at every dorm every weekend night and often on some weekday nights. The campus is very safe and there is rarely ever and violence or theft. It is very loud and hard to sleep sometimes, because people are often up until five in the morning.
