More than half of the student body uses its own car to get from place to place. If students have friends with cars, then they will most likely carpool with their friends. Other means of transportation include the ECSU shuttle bus. The shuttle is designed to transport students across campus and to the most important places students would probably need to go, like Walmart, Food Lion, and the local mall. Many complaints have been made about the University's shuttle bus because it only has a limited number of stops.

Another way that students travel from place to place would be by taxi. However, most students do not have the extra money a taxi costs in order to travel to their necessary destinations, so this option is not as frequently used. Overall, transportation at the University could be improved, but it is tolerable as of now. Hopefully, in the near future, Elizabeth City State University will expand its means of transportation as the campus grows.
