Quick Stats

Wireless Access Yes
Wireless is available in all of the academic buildings. It doesn't quite work in all of the dorms yet.
24-Hour Labs? Yes
One lab on the second floor of Brossman Commons is open 24 hours. However, certain doors are locked during late hours.
Charged to Print? No
Printing is free, as long as students don't go over their quota per semester. It is a really high quota, and it is extremely rare to go past the given amount.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are a bunch of computer labs in each of the buildings. They can get pretty crowded at certain times during the day, and they frequently run out of paper, so it isn’t recommended that students try to print things out last minute. It’s highly suggested that students bring their own computers, laptop or desktop. Printers aren’t exactly necessary, but they do make things easier for procrastinators and just for everyday use. The college store is stocked with most kinds of ink cartridges and paper sizes, so having a personal printer isn’t too difficult to maintain.

ITS (Information and Technology Services) is generally very helpful. Sometimes the student helpers are a little inexperienced, but they mostly do a good job. It usually takes a bit of time, however, so it’s best to have important works backed up on a USB drive. Their service is free and usually efficient, so if a student does have computer problems, they are definitely the people to go to first. As for the network, it’s generally reliable. They do have a few problems each semester where the network shuts down for a few hours, or where it runs slow from too much activity, but it’s ordinarily reliable and fast.

Library Computers Fill Fast

The computers at Elizabethtown College are very nice and fast. They do fill up in the library though. In the mornings, it is very hard to find a computer to use in the library. Other than that problem, it is very easy to find a computer in any of our bulidings.

Computer Availability

The computers on campus are kind of crappy. At the library they take forever to sign you in. However, if you're willing to wait you can print for free there and at the BSC. The Communications department does have a computer lab of nice Mac desktop computers. Only a few dorms have wireless but I heard over summer they are putting it in all the dorms. All academic buildings and the library have wireless. The internet speed overall is very good.

Slooooooow

There is a computer lab in the top floor of the BSC and in the library (plus there are Mac labs in the communications building and Zug). The computers are nice but are slow, only busy during noon and around exam times. Plus, there is nothing "express" about the Express Printing section in the library. It takes 5 minutes to log onto your account and a few seconds to get everything set up. Definitely not wanted when racing to get to class on time!
