Elon students enjoy the experience of attending the school, but as with many things there are drawbacks. The community is small and quiet, and other schools are approximately a half hour away. But even though there are drawbacks, and students can sometimes feel like they wish they were somewhere else, they still can’t imagine being at anywhere else. Socially, there is a Greek scene, but students also throw parties in their houses and/or apartments. There is also an abundance of nightlife that is in Greensboro, which is only 20–30 minutes away and well worth the trip. The academic curriculum can be rigorous at times, but the professors are willing to help in any way that they can. Elon’s student body is great even though they can be a little difficult to deal with at times; there are not a lot of complaints about the University other than its diversity issues and the size of the town. But don’t be fooled by Elon’s size—it may not be for everyone, but life at Elon can be a great experience. Filter:

Campus Security Vs Campus Police
B
We have two seperate forces that handle what is going on, so getting caught is a large possibility. They also have undercover cops that impersonate students at parties. There are fines, calls home, hearings, and sometimes expulsion if the event is serious enough. |

Drinks
A-
Drugs are not as popular as the drinking on campus. And one is not pressured to drink at social events. |

Elon in a Bottle
A-
For someone who is used to the urban sprawl of a big city, it was nice to come down into a less populated area and get a taste for smaller towns. Elon is a small community, and everything is within walking distance. Lots of other colleges are nearby, Chapel Hill, UNC, UNCG, which is nice if you want to go out on weekends. |
