College Prowler Take

Living in the Story Center, which happens to be one of the parking lots that must be emptied before each of the football games, I personally find parking to be obnoxious. Having to walk across campus to get to a car is not uncommon, and if you don’t park in the right areas you can be ticketed or towed pretty easily. For the people living in either the Harper Center or Story Center, parking can be a pain since you always have to move your car.

Basically the lowdown is this—campus parking is not that bad, but it can be frustrating. Freshmen are allowed to park on campus, which is great (and uncommon among many colleges today). However, because of the fact that underclassmen can have cars, the spaces become more-and-more limited. You can still almost always find a spot, but it may be farther from where you want to be than you’d like. There are times when Elon will host special events, like the International Festival or Orientation weekends, so a parking lot may be closed off or full, causing extra stress. Parking by the Greek courts on weekends is futile, because there really aren’t any spots. If you do bring your car on campus, just remember it’s not exactly a luxury—there is a lot to deal with, so be prepared. In the long run, however, you’ll be glad you had your own car.

Parking is not truly an issue. Sure you might not be able to park right next to the building your class is in, which bothers some people, but overall Elon attempts to offer enough spots to satisfy the demand.
