College Prowler Take
Public transportation is probably one of the most frustrating things about Burlington. Trying to get anywhere, if you don’t have a car, is one of the worst hassles you’ll encounter. With the shuttle to the airport costing $30–$40, it’s expensive to use university transit. In addition, should the student who is traveling only need a ride one-way (either to the airport or back), they have to pay the full fee. Unfortunately, if you come back early from a break and need to take a taxi to school, it can cost anywhere from $60 to $125. Some of the cheaper companies are listed in this guide, so you will want to look out for those, or else you’ll have to spend much more. As far as travel on campus, there is a Bio Bus shuttle from Danieley Center to McMichael Science Building. You can probably find someone that is willing to let you use his or her car for the day, but having your own is always easier. Because the nearby airports are big and pretty busy, it’s not hard at all to find a flight home. Amtrak is also pretty reliable, and many like traveling that way as an alternative to flying.
