When you first get here in late August, it is still boiling outside-the heat is on. For the first month you'll still be wearing your summer clothes, but come October you start to need light sweaters. The autumn mornings are cold, but it warms up during the day. Layering is the best way to be comfortable. It sometimes doesn't snow in Elon, but we do experience a winter and you'll want to be prepared for it. The winters are cold, with few snow days or weeks. When spring arrives, you can break out your tank tops and t-shirts again. Springs are humid, and the big craze is skirts, shorts, halter tops, or T-shirts. You'll need your summer dress, your fall scarf, your winter jacket, and spring short-sleeve shirts. Most people don't bring down their winter clothing until about October. It all depends on where you're from and what you're accustomed to.
The most annoying thing was =when we had days of warm weather (around 70 degrees), and then snow the next week. You really need to be flexible because one day it'll be nice out and you'll have on a T-shirt, but the next day it will be snowing. However, many people enjoy the variety in the weather and the opportunity to go sunbathing in the spring or make snowmen in the winter. I swear, Burlington is like Mother Nature's little freak experiment!
