Off-campus dining is awesome. The dining on-campus is expensive.

The parking spots are far from class and most of the time you cannot find parking spots. looking for spot takes about 15 minutes.

The local atmosphere is alright with some drug dealing and many felonies occurring around the campus, but campus is the safest place of them all.
College Sophomore 2013-11-30T22:15:25Z
There are a lot of activities going on around campus. The students here are very active and love to take part into as many activities as possible.

The curriculum and the opportunities are the unique aspects of this university. The prize though is really high with less amount offered in scholarships.
College Sophomore 2013-11-30T22:13:35Z
The financial aid is alright at the university. They look inexperienced and allot scholarships to students who have done poor in high school. There are many students whose grades have shown that they deserve to study in this university but they are unable to or they have to work really hard to stay in the university.
College Sophomore 2013-11-30T22:11:07Z
The drug scene is near to none. I haven't heard or seen any student being caught with drugs on campus. They are very vigilant about drug usage.
College Sophomore 2013-11-30T22:09:36Z
There are plenty of internship opportunities in this university. They have strong connections with companies and their catalog is really properly setup with the company requirements, so i do not worry about getting an internship. If i do well and study hard. I will be awarded with an internship opportunity.

There are many options to live off campus, but the only problem that prevents people from moving off campus is the safety and inconvenience of travelling.
College Sophomore 2013-11-30T22:04:07Z
I personally havent been to clubs that often, but i have gone to all the clubs near campus. They are all average clubs, nothing extra ordinary.

Florida weather is the best. It can be surprising at times but other than that it is perfect for college life.
College Sophomore 2013-11-30T22:01:46Z
The resident advisors are very strict about the policies of the school. They do not accept the rules being broken.
College Sophomore 2013-11-30T22:00:04Z
There are a lot of cultural activities going on around the campus, mostly governed by the ethical groups or student associations.

The food sometimes create a problem but otherwise the curriculum and all the facilities at the university is great.

Which dorm you get is all up to luck, they only honor who you want to room with. There is a simple form that you fill out and they choose who you room with if you don't have anybody. There is a dorm, McKay, that is like a motel, 2-3 people to a room and each room gets their own bathroom. This dorm doesn't really hang out with each other because of the separation. Another dorm, Doolittle, has 4 rooms share a community bathroom and 2 people to the room. This dorm has a the biggest chance of hanging out with each other and a great social community. The perk of that is that it's the only dorm that has the staff clean the bathroom and gets the best furniture. The last dorms, Adams and Wood, have 2 people to a room and 2 rooms share a bathroom. The people tend to differ with social atmosphere. Some hallways always leave their doors open and hang out a lot but then there are halls that don't hang out with each other and tend to keep their doors closed. With cost, they generally all cost the same so it's convenient in that respect.

There's the beach about 10 minutes away that many students go to in the beginning of the year and at the end. On the beach there is an outdoor mall with clubs and a movie theater. There's also a mall and department stores for shopping within walking distance of campus. There isn't a professional sport team in Daytona, and the closest is the Gators. Daytona Beach is about an hour away from Orlando, with Disney World and Universal Studios there. It's also close to Bush Gardens in Florida and Sea World, all accessible in a day.

Parking passes are really cheap compared to other colleges. Parking lots tend to fill up quickly and hard to find. Freshmen tend to get the worst lots, away from campus, but there are a few exceptions that get lucky. Tickets normally run about $35 for violations. There isn't a great need for a car on campus the first year besides shopping and entertainment, but it becomes a greater need later on if you get a job or have clubs with outings.

The library is a popular place, since it is the best place for group work and to wait around for class. Most of the printers and scanners are there too. The student center houses the campus radio station, newspaper, most of the eating places, and the student government office. There are tons of green spaces around campus, the most famous is the west lawn, where most people can hang out in the sun and play football or frisbee. There is a ton of support for the athletics, and the athletics are really good. There is a movie every Thursday and comedians and concerts are arranged through our touch-and-go theater productions. There are tons of clubs, all student run, for almost any interest.

Availability is great, there are entire floors of buildings that are nothing but computer labs. The hours tend to differ and close on the weekends though, so it is important to have a computer during those times. There is a wireless network that students use, however it can be slow at times, especially when many students use it at once. There are also times when it shuts down completely and can inconvenience people. I find it better to have a personal computer so you don't have to walk to a computer nearly everyday since most of the homework is given through blackboard. It is also better to have a printer or know someone that has a printer so you don't walk to the library to print something.

It is definitely one of the best schools to come for engineering. There's a lot of hands on classes for freshmen that most students don't get until junior year. There are a lot of clubs that deal with engineering that are hands on and go to competitions. The workload can be tough, typical of being an engineering student, but many professors are always helpful and clarify things as long as you go seek them out either during office hours or by email. There are a lot of job outreach programs, such as career fairs and informational sessions all throughout the year. It's easy to be able to talk to a recruiter and learn about internship opportunities.

Applying to the school is surprisingly easy. They don't have a set deadline, just guidelines to follow if you want to start at a specific time. For example it is best to turn in the application in November if you want to start in the fall. Almost all of the professors want to see the students succeed and help in anyway possible. They are friendly and helpful and make themselves available if you are struggling. They are also understanding if something comes up and you have to miss a class, just email them and most gives you the ok and the notes that you would miss. Students can meet up anywhere and be able to get work done. The library has quiet areas so students can get work done and areas for group study. There are lounges in the dorm halls that a lot of people go to and group study. There's also the option of studying in the rooms.

Health & Safety:
Campus security is always available at anytime of an emergency. Student officers have dorm rooms and can generally be found there if not working. There is a system called RAVE that tells students of any news of concern, such as weather, traffic, or crime near campus. It is great to have and makes people safe. Health services aren't convenient to students. They have limited hours, especially during the weekend. However, when they are available, they are helpful to the students, whether it be for illness or for personal issues.

Embry-Riddle really is the place to be if you love anything to do with planes or engineering. The amount of guys vs. girls isn't too daunting, especially if you have a bunch of guy friends from high school. I've never met so many people that have the same interests as me and you really get the feeling of belonging somewhere. People are actually serious about their classes, where you don't find in typical colleges. I wouldn't have chosen any other place besides this because it's given me a chance to be serious about my work and still have a social life with friends.
College Freshman 2013-11-18T00:32:04Z
The temperature tends to be pretty stable. It stays in the 80s to 60s going from fall to winter. The only thing to watch out for is the random thunderstorms that can come from nowhere. A lot of students keep an umbrella in their backpack just in case. There is also a low chance for hurricanes, since Daytona Beach is on the Atlantic Coast, but there are set policies if a hurricane does hit.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
