Campus food is okay... I wish they had more variety like Asian.

I never had a problem with it but I heard that the RA's are strict when it comes to illegal substances.

This school is expensive. Expect to take out a lot of loans if you don't get the maximum grants.

Guys & Girls:
They're art students. Some of them are extremely stuck up, but others are nice and humble.

There are a lot of computer labs for students to use. However there is a catch: you need to be enrolled in a class that uses those equipments. If you're not, then it's basically useless.

Boston is a city so expect everything to be more expensive than normal.
College Freshman 2013-11-07T02:44:38Z
Our school doesn't have school spirit. I sometimes forget that our school's mascot is a lion.
College Freshman 2013-11-07T02:43:26Z
I haven't had an internship yet but I plan on getting one very soon.

Im a film production major, specializing in directing.
The introduction classes, if you already know the basics, are sometimes a joke. They teach you how to turn on the camera and how to record a video. But if you don't know anything about the skill I heard it's a nice learning class.
I love the history of media arts class. I'm learning a lot and the professors are great!
I plan on getting a job in the film entertainment industry.

The school is located in the East Coast, above New York. So if you're from the New England area, it's fine. But if you're from the west coast like I am, it'll get really cold very fast. Bundle up!
College Freshman 2013-11-07T02:40:30Z
It's a small school so don't expect to see big stadiums or big green areas. It's very metropolitan and everything is cramped together. It's nice but at the same time, it can feel a bit claustrophobic.
College Freshman 2013-11-07T02:38:45Z
It's a lot better than the schools around, considering that we have both AC and a central heater. Everything is vertical than compared to the big colleges. It's a small school and everything is close to each other.

Emerson College is in the middle of Boston. Everything is walking distance but if you feel lazy, there's a subway station located directly in front of the school.

Rain. Sun. Cold. Heat. Snow. Slush. The weather here is very bipolar. It could be 20 degrees one day and 63 the next without anyone blinking an eye. But if you want diversity in your weather, it's a great place to be.

Guys & Girls:
The guys are very into either film, smoking, pot, or all three. Most of them are below average-looking, so the few average ones are viewed as "super hot" in comparison. Almost all of them are douches. As for the girls, most of them are rude. Almost all of them dress up all the time - full hair, makeup, and overdone clothes for class. Most of the theatre majors are difficult to talk to in their idiocy.

We don't do "college sports" in the typical way. However, if you're into athletics, you can be a part of that culture. There are a lot of facilities available for working out on-campus that are free to students, and there are more sports than people realize. One of our claims to fame is Quidditch. People don't realize how difficult and physical Quidditch is, and there's a great community surrounding it.

You come into Emerson knowing what you want to do. Undecideds are very rare, and for good reason. From the day you arrive, you begin working with equipment and qualified professors in your major, and the opportunities are unparalleled. Internships aren't an "if," they're expected. There are also tons of organizations within the school related to every major, so you can get experience from the moment you arrive as a freshman.

Boston is an incredible city and we're in the middle of the vibrant theater district. We're right off of Newbury St, which has a ton of shops and restaurants, and we're a T ride away from all the other incredible places in the city. I get so much energy from being surrounded by so much life and excitement all the time!
College Freshman 2013-10-15T12:34:29Z
There's very little pressure to drink or do drugs, although they're available if you want them. Drinking and smoking weed are the most common, otherwise you'd have to be in with a more specific crowd.
College Sophomore 2013-09-29T15:56:17Z
Emerson is very accepting - except possibly to conservatives.
College Sophomore 2013-09-29T15:53:22Z
Emerson College is very focused on communications, so its academics are awesome if you are studying something related to communications. However, if that's not what you want to do, it's not the school for you.
College Sophomore 2013-09-29T15:50:52Z
Students at Emerson aren't very involved in athletics unless they play a sport. It's a bit disheartening for players that there is little spirit and fan support from average students. That being said, if you're interested in sports, Emerson does have a good athletic program and you can always go to games.

Health & Safety:
The campus in integrated into the city so the buildings themselves are very safe and secure but once you are outside you are in downtown Boston. I never felt that unsafe outside either but in a big city there is always some risk/danger. Occasionally a homeless person would wander into the lobby of the dorm but the security always got them out pretty quick.

I am not affialiated with Greek life at Emerson College. While I am aware that it exists, that is where my knowledge of it stops. Therefore I don't feel comfortable commenting on it further.

Lots of different neighborhoods in Boston to live off-campus in, as well as other local cities which are 20 min or less away via public transportation.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
