Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The dorms at Emerson quickly breed loyalty in students. The College’s newest residence halls have quickly gained popularity among students. Piano Row is limited to four- or six-person suites and is home to the new gymnasium, various meeting rooms for student organizations, a dining and eating area, and administrative offices.

Freshmen aren’t required to live on campus, and they aren’t always guaranteed housing. Those who send their housing deposit in by May 1 will almost always be assigned a bed, though the school occasionally has to put a couple dozen freshmen in the local DoubleTree Hotel. Housing is virtually impossible to get for transfer students and becomes increasingly difficult each year after your first. Most Emerson students are the kind of people who look forward to moving off campus sophomore year anyway, and you should. Overall, residence life is good while it lasts, but few tears are shed when moving out.

Way Too Expensive

Good facilities overall, but the school can't quite justify that $46,000/year price tag.

Paramount Dormitory

Paramount is a dormitory literally right above a theatre complex (which is convenient for theatre majors with early morning classes and late night rehearsals). Professional productions are also often staged in the theatre. Located in a highly urban part of Boston, it stands out from blocks away with its attention-grabbing marquis. Though one often hears complaints about how "far" Paramount is from the rest of campus, 4 blocks really isn't bad at all. It's generally a very quiet, uneventful dorm building (which can be nice sometimes). However, the dorm rooms all have very tiny windows with only a view of the Suffolk University dorms across from us. This can get very annoying, especially since our "neighbors" from Suffolk tend to forget to close their window shades and post offensive phrases and pictures on their windows...
