When I went on a tour of Emerson, I was given the impression that it would be easy to take classes outside of my major (ie I could take creative writing or acting classes while majoring in film) but one of my friends emailed the school and apparently found out that it's almost impossible. So which is it?

Emerson is an extremely focused college, where students who are passionate about one area of communications learn lots about their specific field. It might be difficult to take a wide variety of courses, since the program is set up to help a film major to become a producer; a journalism student to become a journalist; etc.

PS: But I'm pretty sure you get to choose your own electives...if you wanted to branch out, you could probably take some different kinds of classes for elective credit.
