Social Scene
There is no social hierarchy on campus. There are groups that can be generalized based on style of dress or major, but you'll find that those generalizations don't hold up very long. Emerson students are very social and don't keep to a small group of friends.
Hookups or Relationships?
There are a fair amount of people in relationships; a large amount of those are long distance, too. Of course, there are plenty of students who are looking for non-committal nights on the town, too.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Unlike other big universities in Boston, Emerson doesn't provide the best opportunities to meet your next potential boyfriend or girlfriend. There are plenty of students who come to Emerson already attached and committed to long-distance relationships. Due to the College's tight-knit population and its reputation as a haven for students with alternative lifestyles, many of the female students will find that many of the the guys are gay. Your best bet is to meet someone from one of the neighboring colleges by attending an off-campus party.
Dress Code
Emerson does not dress like your high school (most likely). Here, the students look like the kids who dressed weird at your high school. Yes, there are plenty of well-dressed students. Yes, there are some preppy kids. But please expect more tight pants, Clash T-shirts, studded belts, mohawks, dyed hair, and leather than you are used to.
