Taking the time to go off campus to eat is well worth the trip and money. Unfortunately, there aren’t many restaurants within sprinting distance of Emerson, which means many students don’t take the time to dine between classes. When there is a long break between classes or students have the time to travel, there are tons of great restaurants to try. Grasshopper and Buddha’s Delight are rival favorites for Emerson’s vegan students. Both restaurants offer Asian food that matches any “real meat” counterpart. Students also frequent restaurants in the North End for great pasta and Italian. Emerson is just a few blocks from Chinatown, which has plenty of cheap eats. As for late-night dining, the options are sparse. The South Street Diner is open 24 hours, as is Bova’s Bakery in the North End, but both can get pretty crowded in the early morning hours.

But since the meal plan is pretty generous, and the food is more than tolerable, it’s not always worth it for students to leave campus to feast. Pricing also becomes a concern for many students. School is expensive, and city eating can definitely add to an expense account quickly. The bottom line is that you can find any kind of food you want in Boston; hopefully, you have the time and the resources.
