College Prowler Take

Most students are thrilled with Emerson. From the professors to the production equipment to the classes, many students feel they’re being well-prepared for the real world. At Emerson, students have more internship opportunities, well-known industry professionals as professors, and quality classes than many larger schools. Since Emerson students come with fervor to learn their trade, they end up bolstering each other in workshops and projects. Some students gripe about the long lines and difficulty dealing with the administrative aspects at Emerson, such as the financial aid office and the registrar. These experiences can obscure the positive parts of the educational experience, but most students agree that something very exciting and positive is going on at Emerson, and there are a lot of resources to take advantage of.

Emerson students are matchless in their excitement to learn, create, and get involved in activities that will better them academically and in character. Though it’s common to boo-hoo about the unpredictable weather, the dismal parking and driving situation, and early curfews in Boston, most Emerson students love their temporary home. The chances to work with award-winning faculty are one of a kind, as are the students. Emerson isn’t perfect, but it is a fantastic place for students who are willing to learn and work hard for what they care about. Your time spent at Emerson will certainly not be easily forgotten.

If I could do it all over again, I definitely wouldn't come to Emerson. It's not fun, and I go away every weekend to visit other friends because there's nothing to do on campus or in Boston if you're under 21. Emerson is pretty overrated—it's nothing special, but, if you think you know everything, then Emerson is definitely just for you.

I would come here again because I don't really party anyways, and apparently, I'm pretty self-destructive when it comes to relationships.

There’s this buzz around Emerson;...

There’s this buzz around Emerson; it seeps through the sidewalks out in front of the buildings and echoes down the hallways. Just being there, walking to class, sipping your Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, and wiping the sleep from your eyes, you feel like you’re a part of something, like you’re tapped into the pulse of the underground current, the Bohemian vibe. Like Greenwich Village during the Beat revolution, it’s a mecca for the creative. Perhaps that has less to do with the actual institution and more to do with the students, but the fact remains. On the flip side, I have had some problems with the courses offered, specifically in the writing department; there just weren’t enough. By and large, however, I feel that I’m getting a solid education, and I’m sure the connections I’ve made and continue to make at Emerson will prove invaluable in the future. Emerson is definitely not for everyone, but if you happen to be a little left of center, it could be the place for you.

My experience at Emerson has...

My experience at Emerson has obviously had its ups and downs, but overall, I have enjoyed my time here. For the cost of tuition, you better enjoy it here, too. I think that people who leave regretting the experience are foolish for not transferring. Emerson has so much to offer, but you have to be willing to take advantage of everything to get your money’s worth. You must make strong relationships with faculty in your department. You must take advantage of the opportunities to get involved in the student organizations, or create your own. It’s important to really understand why you are here in order to grow at this school. But once you’re sure that you’re studying something that you’re in love with, you’ll love it here, too.

Emerson is a great academic experience. Financially, I could have made wiser decisions about college. My funding sucks. It often feels as if people are just trying too hard socially, and that is irritating, but I would imagine that the ‘traditional’ college social scene would have been more maddening.
