College Prowler Take
Despite the fact that Emerson is located in the heart of a city, the campus is quite safe. Emerson Police are visible on campus and respond quickly to complaints and emergencies. Of course, students should be aware of their surroundings, especially at night, and take care when walking through the park after dark. Dorms are secure with sign-in procedures in operation 24 hours a day. Students must swipe their IDs before accessing residence floors, and all guests must be signed in and out. The dorms’ front desks are usually staffed by students who keep evil-doers and miscreants out. Some residents even complain that desk-sitters give them too hard of a time when they want to sign in guests, which annoys some and makes other students feel safer. The rumor that Emerson security guards often doze when they should be working may be true, but doors are always locked overnight to keep out anyone who doesn’t belong in an Emerson building—of course, this also includes students who lose their keys, so don’t forget them when heading out late at night. Though the campus is relatively safe from non-Emerson mischief-makers, crime does occasionally take place. Keeping yourself safe and your belongings secure usually doesn’t take much more than using your common sense.

Since Emerson is a city campus, there is always a lot of security around. This is also where being in a town filled with college students comes in handy because every school has its own security, and I've never felt unsafe walking alone at night. There was a small rash of thefts in the Little Building dorm, so be sure to leave your door locked when you're not in a room.

There isn't a lot of crime, but you need your ID to get into all dorm buildings and all other buildings at certain times. Also, there are campus police and security everywhere.

Emerson is really safe. There are locks where there should be, desk-sitters where there should be, and no random people coming into the dorms off the street. |
