There is a decent number of apartments around Emory with affordable prices.

Nightlife at Emory is definitely not something this school should be proud of. The closest club is approximately an hour away and there are not many parties on campus.

As a international student, I received a big scholarship that was more then enough to enable me to study normally and completely focus on school.

There are a lot of options and the cafeteria has some of the best food in my opinion. You can get tired eating at the same places all the time though.

Guys & Girls:

Upperclassman Dorms Are Pretty Great – The freshman dorms at Emory and Henry College are not very good, but the Upperclassman dorms are pretty amazing. One of the best upperclassman dorms is almost like a hotel.

There Isn't Much but They Are Good – You have to go a ways off campus, but the food is definitely worth it.

Football is the major sport at Emory & Henry. The fan passion is great and there is a huge pride in the game. The football team has a history of success in the past as well.

Science Dept. The Chemistry and Biology departments of Emory and Henry college are very hands on and want their students to succeed. Most teachers are very caring and love teaching what their classes but sometimes it does become confusing due to the excessive amounts of knowledge that is passed down for each class.

Emory Sports – We have very good Athletics. Our coaches are great. Our athletic facilities are state of the art. We have a major fan support from both our students and our alumni. We have a lot of school spirit. We as students at Emory and Henry College take great pride in being a part of every aspect in our school.

The schools has average Dell computers for the most part but do have higher grade Mac's in certain buildings.

There are no Greek houses on campus. There seems to be a line between some people and Greek Life but Emory is trying to mesh the two better.

Dining Options – I am a commuter but the dining options are still good. The price is high, but the food is good. The coffee is amazing!

The program is amazing. My professors are incredible.

I'd say most of the students on campus are here because of the final cost. Emory is really expensive, but they give a LOT of aid.

Not Much – There really isn't that much diversity on campus. The average student here is a white Virginian. The only African-Americans on campus are here to play football.

The campus is small, so Emory has a huge sense of community and most everyone is willing to help someone else out. The draw back to that is everyone knows you, and there is no such thing as blending into the crowd when you are having a bad day.
The biggest thing that sets Emory apart is the relationships with professors. I would actually call most of the professors that I had friends. I recently graduated and I still talk to both of my academic advisors and many of the professors that I had during my career. I know that I can call on them like I would with any other friend I made at Emory.
I would aslo encourage everyone to rush greek life. You don't have to pledge any organization when you rush, so it is a great way to get to know many different people. Because campus is so small sometimes it can be intimidating to burst into the social scene, and rush provides the perfect oportunity to move outside of your own social group.

"Dry Campus" – During orientation my first year the president of the college said something that describes drinking on campus very well: "Emory and Henry is a dry campus, it just happens to rain frequently." There is a no alcohol policy on campus, but that doesn't stop anyone from drinking. On campus if you aren't into the drinking scene it is relatively easy to avoid as long as you don't mind seeing the occasional drunk person. On the other hand, it is quite easy to find a place and people to drink with on campus or off if you wanted to. RAs tend to go with the don't ask don't tell/if they didn't see it, it doesn't exist. RAs don't like to do all of the paperwork involved in writing people up, but if you make a lot of noise and destroy campus property they won't have a choice.
Dugs aren't a big thing on campus; most people smoke if they do anything. I would say the campus population is about half and half between those who regularly get high and those who don't.
I never felt pressured to drink or to not drink, it was probably the people I hung out with. We had parties, but no one usually got sloppy drunk.

There are many places to eat in the area surrounding campus; as long as you have a car. The reason I gave off-campus eating a B is for that very reason. There are many great places to eat in both Abingdon and Bristol. Abingdon tends to be a little more pricey than Bristol, but that is because it is a touristy place. My favorite place in Abingdon is Chicken Little. It is a mom and pop run place with an amazing menu. It's cute, and best of all it is cheap. Always important to a college student.

Emory usually gives a pretty big merit scholarship, but that still leaves a big deficit. Emory is so expensive, but there are ways to get scholarships. The school just doesn't really help in helping you find them.

Pi Sigma Kappa – Emory is so small and in a very secluded area of the state, so being in Greek life helps by giving you friends and something to do. It is much smaller and very different from other schools. I just recently joined, and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I love my sisters with all my heart. Also, most of the fraternities/sororities are cool with each other, with the exception of a few rivalries.
College Senior 2011-07-07T00:38:08Z
Caf, Hut, Hometown – There are only three places to eat on campus, but I guess that is a lot considering how small Emory is. The Hut is usually good, crowded, but the same old food from day to day. A lot of people talk about how bad the cafeteria is, but I have never really had a problem with it. They could probably change the menu up a little more. I absolutely love the Hometown Express. Katie, the server, is amazing and always so friendly. The food reminds me of home, and you can tell she puts a lot of care and effort into making everyone happy.

Could Be a Lot Better – With the addition of the new dorm (2010) the grade went up from about a D. Residence halls are no way modern and the atmosphere feels like the dark ages. Community bathrooms are the norm except for the new dorm. The parking for the dorms is very bad as well.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
