Freshman Year Experience Rocks!!! Freshman housing is the best!!! It is themed to encourage community building. I am currently in one of many new residence halls Fevans, and I love it. The theme is green housing for sustainability. Next year I will continue living green at Woodruff Residence hall! There are many options for room types including community bathrooms, suites and apartments. A perk of the community style is that you don't have to clean a bathroom and the staff does an excellent job of cleaning for the students.

There are always computers available and they are all top notch. There are more mac computers, but also many windows computers available. Computers are available in many locations and are used by all students. The areas in which computers are available are great study spaces with a great atmosphere. My favorite is the Cox computing center because the seats are super comfortable.

Not Strict at All – Emory is not strict on anything. Students are respected and given freedom

Emory has plenty of athletics but most students play recreationally and not seriously,

Permit Costs Are Quite Expensive – The permit costs are quite expensive. The parking around the campus can be nightmare especially coming back from the weekends.

Health & Safety:
Grade a Safety Provided. Emory University provides a grade A level safety inside and outside the campus. I absolutely love the feeling of being safe at this campus. The safety options provided are the campus police stations located everywhere around the campus and constant police and enforcement officer stations around the campus to help with any suspicious activities.

Diverse and Fun – It is true that there is not much school spirit here, but people still have a lot of fun with gatherings, parties, etc. The community here is very diverse and there are a lot of opportunities in various extracurricular activities and organizations.

For Freshmen – All Freshmen dormitories are spacious and clean. In each dorm, it is very easy to socialize and be in community. Recently, there has been new dorms for Freshmen with big rooms.

Health & Safety:
It is very safe inside the main campus, but recently there were some thefts right around the neighborhood. But overall, this is a very safe campus.

Emory is a very academic school but it seems to offer a very balanced life for a college student for of unique opportunities. It has tons to offer academically while at the same time much to offer socially due to its close proximity to Atlanta.

Computers run great, and there are many available in the library, DUC, Cox and SAAC. Very convenient overall.

I don't have any experience with financial aid, but I know a lot of people get it and it's easily accessible.

School Policies – Emory allows you to do almost anything you want, just don't do anything illegal.

Good D3 Country Club Sports, but No Football – Emory has great D3 country club sports but has almost no school athletic spirit since there is no football team

Emory is a challenging University and the workload is demanding.
College Junior 2012-03-02T19:43:59Z
Some people say the campus is diverse yet segregated. You won't be seeing a melting pot- more of a "salad bowl". There is an over-representation of Jewish students and Asian students. However there are so many different people, international, local, and from around the US. Everyone adds something different to the campus, whether it is to make a new club for the environment or the parties.
It's really what you decide to make out of it. Emory University offers all it can to the students: mentorships, special guest speakers, dinners, career advice, internships... etc. They really want to see you succeed.

Good Shuttle Service – The shuttles are for the most part frequent. They try to adjust to the traffic and demand. There's also a live app you can download on your phone that shows you where the buses are. However sometimes the buses may be a little off schedule or the application will lie to you. I haven't been met with inconvenience with the shuttles though.

Basics Are There – There's Emory Village which is connected to the campus. You can eat at Panera, a frozen yogurt place, Rise N Dine, Barnes and Nobles, Pizza place, and other random stores. A new Chipotle opened up recently, and it's a place students go frequently. There's a small falafel store which the falafel is so good. Rise N Dine is a place that serves breakfast/brunch foods- also really good, but a bit more pricier.
It's really not much, and there's nothing fancy there. But it's a nice change from the campus dining foods.
For other dining options, you're going to have to have a car/taxi to go into the Atlanta are, which is a hassle. There's also shuttles that run to Lenox area, Midtown hospital, Kroger/Publix plaza, and and other locations, and you can take advantage of that if you wish to do so.

Depends on Who You Choose to Hang Out With – Of course, drugs and alcohol are everywhere--it all depends on who you associate with. Alcohol is much more prevalent than anything else, and, the only drug I have seen myself is marijuana.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
