College Prowler Take
Emory strives to maintain a beautiful campus, and part of this means stylish and expensive computers nearly everywhere you look. From the Dobbs University Student Center to the gym, colorful Macintoshes light up the walls, and allow students high-speed Internet access from almost anywhere. There are classifieds, chat rooms, and information boards, and many teachers set up conferences for their students to interact and ask questions. For scheduling and grade information, the system is called OPUS, and it works quickly and efficiently as well. As far as computer labs go, Emory has used its large endowment for the better. The main library features all flat-screen PCs, and some Macs in the lobby for quick information. Emory recently renovated Cox Computer Lab, and it has quickly become a student favorite with its flashy interior design, dual-screen setups, and great team workstations. Anyone visiting Emory would be very impressed with the computer labs here, and they are definitely a selling point of the campus tours. The only time that the computer labs are too crowded is during midterms and especially during finals; otherwise, there is always a computer to be had on one of the three floors of the library, or in the Cox Computer Lab. I would recommend having a laptop, as every table in the library has Internet and Ethernet hookups and plugs, as does every dorm room and study room on campus.

The computer network is excellent. However, lab space is very limited, so students should bring a computer.

Cox Hall has a really, really...
Cox Hall has a really, really nice, super high-tech computer lab with meeting rooms fully wired with the lastest AV equipment for small groups to meet in and classrooms with similarly high-tech equipment for larger groups and review sessions. It's usually busy but rarely crowded. The whole campus is wireless, and the connection is pretty good.

The computer labs here at Emory...
The computer labs here at Emory are wonderful. There are many computers and none that are bad. There is also the option to use 40-plus-inch screens with a wireless mouse and keyboard in the Cox lab. About half of the computers in the library have two monitors, and the other half has 20-plus-inch monitors.

Emory provides a reasonable amount...
Emory provides a reasonable amount of computer facilities on campus, which works out very well for campus-bound students. The only problems arise during midterms and finals, when all facilities are swamped to maximum capacity. However, bringing a personal computer is never a bad idea; you never know when you might need it, and it’s always better to have one at your personal disposal. |

The only time that the labs are crowded is around midterms and finals. During those times you will really wish you had a computer if you don’t. |
