College Prowler Take
There is a surprising amount of marijuana smoked on campus. Many people openly discuss smoking pot in classes, and some teachers even occasionally mention it. There is also a relatively high amount of prescription drug use. Adderall and Ritalin are very commonly abused study drugs that are often used around midterms and finals. There is moderate hallucinogen use and a bit more noticeable cocaine use. There is a “scene” of drugs on campus, no doubt, but not one that evokes much pressure on students. If anything, there is a lot of pressure on students to drink to have fun. Alcohol is by far and away the poison of choice for Emory students, with marijuana and pills coming in tied for second. The amount of money students have here definitely facilitates the drug scene, and especially contributes to the amount of students doing cocaine. Of course, some students choose not to do drugs at all, but they are not bothered or harassed for abstaining. All in all, you can find anything you want at Emory, but not much of anything will ever be offered to you.

I guess as in any place, if you’re looking for them, you’ll find them. I’ve never been pressured or exposed to them. |

The drug scene isn’t huge, but you’ve definitely got your group of stoners and druggies. I feel like few people do things beyond smoking weed, though. I know some people who do coke occasionally, but that’s all I know. |

I had an RA and SA who let us smoke and drink in our dorm room when I was a freshman. Then again, there were some RAs who patrolled the halls every weekend trying to bust people. This campus is pretty liberal as a whole, so people seem to feel free to smoke pot in public places sometimes, and everyone drinks. |

It seems like tons of people use prescription pills here, especially in conjunction with drinking. The fraternities all drink a lot and lots of students smoke pot also. The drug scene is there, but it isn’t so big that you can’t avoid it. |

Since Emory kids have a lot of money, and this school can get socially boring sometimes, there are a lot of kids doing drugs here. And not just smoking weed either; I know a good amount that do coke, eat pills, and trip also. I’ve heard also that Emory is a great campus to trip on because it is so beautiful. |
