While there was a recent story regarding sexual assault on campus, these issues were a collection from many years and are very few, at that. Emory is an extremely safe campus...it is located in one of the safest neighborhoods in Atlanta. The "raped/drugged" comment is completely false, there is just no other way to state that. I have never felt "unsafe" on campus.

Although some may think Emory might be unsafe due to its close proximity to Atlanta, this is not the case at all. Emory security and police are constantly on watch during the late-night hours, and there are several emergency blue-light phones scattered throughout campus if a student were to run into any trouble. Unfortunately, as with any college campus, dorm room thefts do occur, but these cases are rather trivial and are often easily prevented by simply locking one's door. Assaults on students are extremely rare and uncommon, and students will often walk home to their dorms at 2 a.m. or later with no trouble at all. Emory also offers an escort service for students out late at night. The escort shuttle will pick the student up wherever they are and take them to any destination within a mile of campus.

Emory's student health center is also very helpful and provides top-notch care to anyone who needs it. It is a rather long walk from main campus, often too far away even for some sick students. While it may take a day or so to make an appointment, the treatment is often worth the wait, and many praise the student health center for healing their ailments. The health clinic also provides free sexual health services. Counseling is also paid for by tuition, so students who are overly stressed or dealing with adverse circumstances can easily find help by scheduling an appointment or calling Emory's help line for mental health issues and coping with stress.
